Riverway is more open less trees with more water, fraserview more trees and feels more narrow.
water hazards plays with my head, so i prefer fraserview. I'd do fraserview, since hes just starting tell him bring some range balls since he might lose more than a few. My first course was swan-e-set and it was a great experience there that got me hooked.

the Resort got you hooked? or the Links? two totally different golf courses at Swan-e-Set.

Out of my 70 or so rounds i play every year over the last 3 years, 50 at Riverway, the rest spread around. But, it never used to be like that when i had a regular group. We played somewhere different every weekend, so i know every lower mainland course pretty good.,

Riverway is super convenient for me now, especially playing as a single. They see me walking up from the parking lot and my name gets put on the wait list. Who else would do shit like that?

we played the links at swan-e-set. Our company also sponsored a hole at the Founder's cup at there last thursday (it was a long day because they were playing 5s). Conditions were so nice that i was itching to play. Went to riverway yesterday morning but 3 of the guys bailed (2 just before teetime) so i ended up just using the driving range there to work my irons (still a novice LOL). went to check out conditions at fraserview and it looks really good. might hit it up this week sometime.

Played at Peace Portal over the weekend, pretty packed but everyone was out having a good time. Belmont last week was horrible, took us 3 hours to finish the front 9 as we were stuck behind 2 very slow moving groups.

Riverway is convenient for me as well since I work inside the business park behind it.

How many lessons or how much practice did it take for you guys to be able to hit your irons accurately (draw/straight)? And how long for your driver/woods?

It's been a bit over a month since my first of three lessons in addition to a ton of driving range practice and I still slice the majority of my shots :O I think I have an out to in swing and I'm having trouble squaring the club face at impact. I think I roll my wrist too slow/late?

Roll your wrists threw the ball, and make sure you're not leaving your shoulders and hips open.

Exaggerate that, until you start pull/hooking.

Shot 98 for my first round in 8 years with borrowed shitty clubs. I will have that down to a low 90 high 80 next round. There were lots of dog legs that I could have shortened by hitting over trees rather than around corners. Plus a couple lost balls cost me a few strokes. The guys I was golfing with are avid golfers (older guys so typical old guy golf not far but straight every time) and they were blown away that I could golf that good after such a layoff. I was driving around 280 so I was happy with that. Gonna go again Monday so I'll see how much I can shave off my score.

Berz out.

Thanks!

I've been working on rolling my wrist for the past two weeks and it still slices a ton. I tried bowing my left wrist on the downswing last night and it seemed to work, gonna give it another shot this weekend to see if it was luck or if it actually works for me.

What do you mean by leaving shoulders and hips open?

Shot 85 last week at Fraserview with a triple bogey on 18, with a hooked tee shot, my only lost ball that day. Pretty happy with that, as my handicap dropped a little. Don't think my buddy whom I tried to get hooked on golf, got hooked, but nevertheless, lots o beer always makes things fun.

Ouch, a triple on a par 5. A really tough hole to go for in 2,but not too difficult to GIR. I like to hit my third shot left side fairway, near the 100-120 mark. Gives you max view between the trees.

One thing the old guy has is a garmin watch device that has over 600 courses on it. Gives range from ball to pin on each hole. Thing is awesome. No need to setup or anything it just knows where you are without having to do anything!

Haha this.

I was considering a watch, as its super convenient. But I decided on a range finder.

Would still love to get a watch, but I don't see the need now.

I'm lovin. The range finder

Played there last week.

5.5hr round, and a fuck ton of ball marks on every green.

Redwoods was AWESOME!!!

Loved the course. It was pretty tough. Tight fairways and quite a number of blind shots.
Greens did have a fair amount of ball marks on it, but it wasn't too bad. The conditions were quite good.

Our round took 5 hours. We were about 30-40mins behind all day. The course was fully booked.

I would definitely play it again!
