I can finally hit my 3hybrid straight :D

2 clubs to go: 3Wood and Driver. Thinking of cutting down the lengths by 1" for both of them (43.75 and 45.5 currently)

punkwax 05-23-2016 12:51 PM

Got an ace on the 3rd hole at Northlands last Friday. :chairdance:

bcuzracecarz 05-24-2016 06:40 PM

I played last week at the Ridge (Northview). Was in fantastic condition considering they only punched a couple weeks prior. Have always loved that track.

Also picked up the new M1 430...my god is that thing good

mk1freak 05-24-2016 09:29 PM

Hitting mccleery Friday, hope the weather gets warmer

zetazeta 05-25-2016 01:53 PM

Played Mayfair this past weekend and even though I wasn't striking the ball well, I was on track to break 100 for the first time.. god damn 3 putts killed my round. It was 8 or 9x 3-putts.. ended up with a 105.

The first time I ever played was also at Mayfair and I got a 106 with an average exactly 2 putts per round...

Conditions were nice though!

bcuzracecarz 05-25-2016 07:59 PM

The pros aren't just pros cuz they hit it long, it's allllll short game

zetazeta 05-26-2016 12:22 PM

Yeah I've been too obsessed about distance. Currently working on hitting it ~80% power and getting a good smooth sequence/tempo.

On a side note, for the first time ever, I was able to hit my driver and 3wood straight yesterday. Hit 25 or so good shots at the range. I swing differently than my irons though.... it's much more flat and 'around' my body. Not sure if that's good/correct.

Do you guys ever take full swings from your gap, sand or lob wedges or are only pitch shots at most? I can hit my PW with a full swing but anything loftier I find pretty hard to aim

bcuzracecarz 05-26-2016 01:06 PM

I take full swings with my wedges, but never trying to force it, if it's ever close to where I think I'll have to swing a touch harder. I just club up and swing easier. Wedges should work like a clock in your head, a full swing should go say 100yds with your lob wedge for example. 3/4 swing should go 75, and half swing should go 50 yds. All swung with the same tempo. Wedges are all about control, so the easier and smoother the swing. The more accurate you will be

zetazeta 05-26-2016 06:50 PM

Wow my 58 degrees isn't even close to going 100 on a full swing... I feel like my wedge distance is not proportional to my mid/long irons and woods distance. Maybe I'm not compressing it properly

bcuzracecarz 05-26-2016 09:11 PM

That's just me, and I've been playing for my whole life, everyone different. I could if I swing full out hit a 58 115 yards, but on a course I will only ever hit it 105 max. I lose control anything over 90% with a wedge in my experience

zetazeta 05-27-2016 08:03 AM

Wow that's nuts. I hit my 51 about 115ish and that's only with a very solid hit. For reference, how far does your 7iron and 3wood/driver go?

bcuzracecarz 05-27-2016 09:37 AM

I'm a fairly long hitter but 7 iron is about 175-180, 3 wood off fairway 250-60, driver depends on what I'm hitting (draw, fade, etc.) but carry about 290-300. But I'm also a scratch player so don't relate to those numbers at all. Distance is just a number in golf. Doesn't matter if I hit my 9 iron to 30 feet when you're hitting your 6 iron to 15 feet

zetazeta 05-27-2016 10:26 AM

Those are some impressive distances. How many years have you been playing?

We got paired up with an older guy (50's) and he only drove it 230-250 yards total distance but his shots were dead straight, especially his irons. He ended the round with 6 or 7 over par

bcuzracecarz 05-27-2016 12:15 PM

I'm 27 and have been hitting balls since I could walk lol

was that me?

smoked Fraserview a couple days ago! Also, 12 rounds of using Game Golf now, stats are leveling out.

bcuzracecarz 05-29-2016 06:54 PM

How ya liking that stat system so far?

Played King's Links today, windy and nice weather but the pins were put in the most ridiculous positions, felt like an ironman out there. Felt good to just get out tho after being in Alberta for so long haha

If you had a guy who duffed 12 or so of the 18 tee shots (most of which barely made it past the women's tees) then that might've been me haha

Damn looking at all of your scores makes me jealous. Can't wait until I can hit my irons consistently. Seems like this sport requires more practice than any other I've played; more often than not, my range sessions seem to introduce more swing flaws than improvements :fulloffuck::fulloffuck:

zetazeta 06-02-2016 08:17 PM

Just bought my dream putter, can't wait for it to arive :D This one's gonna last me quite a while I hope!

Which putting grip do y'all use?

LOL wups i meant to ask grip as in left hand low, claw, etc.... haha but I guess this works too! I'm testing out different methods (currently using the conventional right hand low grip), and am trying to switch to a left hand low. I'm really like the bernhard langer grip:

I'm currently using the superstroke flatso ultra. I think it's a bit too wide for my liking but don't feel like paying to switch it

Wormiez 06-05-2016 08:00 PM

Switched over to Salty Grips this years
