Just got into golf recently, realized instructors are more important than spending money on clubs or grinding range 3 to 4x a week. I just started hitting irons and won't even look at drivers or hybrids till I can swing them. I can get away with 2-5iron shots to the green lol.

How long did it take you guys to hit sub 100 with no gimmes, mulligans, and proper out of bounds rulings.

Also what's the most optimal way to buy a driver? I'm using a hand down Titlist 910 that I plan to hold onto till I can hit it consistently. I bought used ping irons that were extended 1" with a lie that's good for taller players and they made night and day difference vs regular sized clubs

Just started quite literally, previous experience with golfing was probably going to the range a total of 10 times my entire life spread over the last 20+ years with zero instruction from anyone and even though it was a given that my form would be terrible I was barely making contact with the ball. I have a private coach for my son and I which by the way if any parents wants to get into it with their kid and or family, Fraserview has wicked family packages with private coaches. I had 1 lesson so far last week and this probably isn't shocking but I went from maybe making contact with the ball 10% of the time to 90%. It was tempting going in especially with my personality to buy a set of clubs right off the bat even if they were just avg ones but I'm going to be the patient good boy and wait a while first. I can see the appeal of this game, I don't know when I would ever get to the point if ever to play on an actual course but simply hitting the range so far is pretty fun.

The hardest part I found recently was giving up my entire swing that was arm dominant and changing it to the proper swing where it's mostly hip and rotation. Took forever to find that contact point, once contact was made, we enter slice city and gotta fix the open club issues.

Distance was average with just arm dominant swing but the consistency would mean I would never set myself up to play in actual courses and stay competitive with the elderly cousins and parents.

Nick. Fucking. Taylor.

What a finish. Sinks a 72’ eagle putt to win the Canadian Open. First Canadian to win the tournament in 69 years :ifyouknow:

Has anyone been to the Haus of Golf in Langley yet? I've heard it's a solid spot for indoor golf during the winter. Anywhere else you guys have tried during the winter for indoor golf? Any solid spots?

I’ve played Haus of Golf. Overall it’s fun but the experience isn’t for me. I’m a hack on the video wall. Think one of my drives registered like 163 yards :lol

I’d go back though on days like today. They have top end gear there compared to that other indoor spot in Langley.

No liquor license there if that matters to you.

When I started golf last winter I was grinding sim golf for almost 20-30 hours a week.

There's so many indoor golf places opening up. VGA in burquitlam has decent membership so you can play daily.

Checked out Haus of golf, solid spot, definitely the most accurate of all the indoor ones I’ve been to because of Trackman, definitely will be back. Would be nice if they had drinks and food but not a dealbreaker since they allow you to bring in your own.

If anyone’s interested Willingdon Costco has a bunch of Kirkland drivers in stock right at the front

My dad bought one last week, was hitting some bombs with it at the range but I like my stealth more. Feels pretty good though

Gerbs 08-08-2024 08:41 AM

Tons of noobie friends picked it up, really good driver.

For someone hitting 300 yards on their fitted driver, they're still driping 285-290 average total with kirkland.

When I hit the Kirkland vs G430, hits the same since I suck, but dispersion felt tighter on G430.
