wonder if 40km a record for totalling a car?? :)

yangwenli 05-31-2007 03:44 PM

I have heard many stories about people claim they KNOW how to drive but ended up in that ditch.

I go fast on that turn too, but i know my limit

most north south engine configs have belts on the front, and having stuff pushed into them, while isn't favorable, is no less favorable than any other part being damaged. If there is one reason to right it off, it would be severe drivetrain movement on impact. If the transmission isn't aligned correctly in relation to all the other components, an increase in wear can be expected, with the possibility of excessive noise.

Sad but probably true. I didn't even know crashing within 40k was possible. He must feel like a tool. Can't say I blame him.

GordonTse 05-31-2007 05:39 PM

I think there was someone that got hit pulling out of the dealer's parking lot in their new SUV... it was a few years ago though.

EuroTRASH 05-31-2007 08:46 PM

i wonder how many KM were on the car at delivery

from my experience, usually less than 20, but i've seen some with more than that

jimzilla 05-31-2007 10:10 PM

Not unless he bought replacement insurance, otherwise he'll get market value for an 07 so he won't get the price he paid and he'll lose out on the tax.

If I remember correctly, adding to what DownLow said, someone bought an Acura MDX from the dealership on No. 3 Rd and while pulling out of the lot, wasn't familiar with how the road works, and got smoked by a bus in the middle lanes.

I like how you just took Dalton's joke...and made it as your own.

Anyway back on topic.
Break in period, right off the lot, fresh tires, good day, dry road.
Nothing really gives away how he could've driven it off the road. Unless he was doing it purposely?

Since it happened infront of the Mitsubishi dealers, my guess is some Mitsubishi fan decided to destroy a Subie infront of their fellow comrads, and cheer about it.

I can see him saying "HAHAAH, STI...DEAD...NOW! EVO TAKE OVAAA!" and running away from the car afterwards.

ctsport 06-01-2007 12:25 AM

The owner of the Subaru is an associate of mine and he diliberately crashed it because he's a big Evo fan and loathes everything Subaru. :D

Well, generally believed/accepted reasons of what happened are:

1. speeding
2. stupid driver
3. new tires / new car
