i don't really see that you have a choice but either gamble or get a new plan since you can't verify that you work for the company anymore.
the gamble is to ride it out month to month until they do reverify (if they do at all). and buy your phone outright and hope they don't reverify.
or call them and straight out tell them you want a comparable plan. but i can guarantee you that you will not get a similar plan at a similar price at all. you can say you want to talk to retentions as you are unhappy with the plans offered (and be really ready to leave if it comes to) and see what they can do for you.
they can't really deny you a retention plan, its just a matter if they can make a plan at a price that you like. i don't think retention has anything to do with either you are on a company plan or not.
seeing as how you recently just left X company, how long ago was the most recent pay stub by them? see if you can submit that in and call it a day and hopefully you get your renewal and a new subsidized phone. but next year, you will be hooped (but maybe next year they won't ask for verification).
i renewed my public sector plan over the live agent for 3 years and they never asked me for any verification that i still work for my company.
best of luck with robbers.

I recently renewed my corp plan and I am told Rogers changed the process for signing up for a corp plans.
Previously, I just contacted the 3rd party reseller that dealt with our site and she did everything for me. This time around, I had to contact that Rogers Business group, send them a request from my company Email address and wait for confirmation. They ended up screwing it up and I had to phone into the Business line and get it straightened out. I was never asked to prove any proof other than sending an Email from my company account.
If you still have access to your old work Email account, then you might be able to renew your plan this way.

You will NOT get any plan with 6GB for $55. They're gonna rape you up the ass, even with a retention offer for 6GB.
True story lol

Then rogers will email an corporate plan code to that email, and I call back with that code to renew my plan. It is then annually verified to ensure that I still work there. Thats what the rep told me anyway.
I'm hoping they dont ask me to verify it lol

If you still have access to your old work Email, then you should be in luck.
Here's what I had to do to re-sign for the BC public sector plan last month.
I went onto Rogers customer service chat, told them I want to sign up for the corporate plan offered at my site. They transferred me to the business dept, I gave them my corp Email address and they gave me a link to sign up.
They sent me this Email to my corp Email after I signed up:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subject: Rogers Employee Verification: Step 1 of 2 completed (Request ID XXXX)
Thank you for completing the online step for Employee Verification, you are one step closer to having your request completed.
For validation purposes please forward this e-mail from the corporate e-mail address provided to Business.ID@rci.rogers.com and attach any flyer(s), price plan details which you may have been provided by your Telecom Administrator, including the selected price plan you wish to migrate to.
Once the information has been received and reviewed by Rogers, you will receive an email confirmation. Please note that it may take up to 1-2 bill cycles for your new price plan to be reflected on your Rogers invoice.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you check my earlier post asking about the corp plans, I signed up for the $60 plan. The plan code is IDV240804 ($75 plan minus $15 discount. ).

Had a pretty stupid interaction with a Rogers rep a couple weeks ago.
Got called by Rogers because they wanted to present me some offers for being a loyal customer. Despite the fact they called me, it took them like 10 minutes to pull up my account, before reciting the details to me: 200 daytime minutes, 6GB data, yada yada. Then she proceeds to her rehearsed script of offering me a 8GB Share Everything plan for $110, which I decline. Her second offer is a 6GB plan for $95, and she goes through her spiel of whether I check emails and watch YouTube videos, and if I want to not have to worry about the data limit. Um... you just read that I already have a 6GB data plan. Why would I want to change to this 6GB data plan that's $95/month when I'm currently paying $53/month? She decided to let me go pretty quickly after that.
I want my 15 minutes back. |

I was in the same/similar situation. I used to pay $50-60 for 6GB but now it's more like $80ish since my contract expired awhile back. She calls and ask if I want to renew contract at like $95 for 3GB. I just hung up.

there's definitely still $50-60 6gb plans kicking around. i know my company's corporate plan there's 25 + 30 for 6gb or 35 + 30 for 6gb but i need to get over $60 to get a 2yr plan and full subside so basically 35+30. or get the $75 unlimited north america + 5gb. so depends on what your company corporate plan is like there maybe $60 6gb plans available.

Thinking about ditching my grandfather plan altogether and just get a data only plan on a sim card with a number attached to it. wireless click the data tab and you'll see "text: unlimited"
Plug that sim into your phone and hopefully have a data only plan.
Has anyone done this before? With WhatsApp calling and so many shawopen wifi hotspots, I think this will save so much money.

fuck i've got a nexus 5 kicking around, i should just throw a sim in it for a while with this plan and see how it works out. hmm....

i'm paying $67 monthly for 6gb data, where some months, I don't even use it all... and 150 min where in a month, i only use probably 15 min of it.
my phone usage is 99% text/whatsapp. 0.9% data for youtube, facebook, etc. 0.1% calls
without shawopen and most places with free wifi, my bill would be reduced by 90%.
my data exceeded at the beginning of my billing cycle this month by 5gb. turned my data off for the rest of the month and noticed i am still receiving email notifications and whatsapp messages just driving from richmond to vancouver.

I randomly check my Bell phone bill and apparently I lost the old acrruing 5% off every time renewing contract. Called in and was told that it "expired" along with the free caller ID and they can't give any more deal LOL but I can pay $1 for the "previously free" caller ID in July. Some customer loyalty....

Currently with Bell paying 65/month for 200 min, unlimited text/pic messaging, free after 6pm, Canada wide calling, 6gb. Used to have "fab 10" promotion when I first signed up 4 yrs ago but had to change to this plan 2yrs ago to upgrade device for free. (Xperia ZL)
Now my contract is done, called and told them I want to upgrade devices and was told I'd have to start paying 90/month to get any of the newer phones (S6 edge, passport, nexus 6 etc) for 250.. Mind you I never spoke with anyone in retentions.
Possible to upgrade device without increasing bill by going to retentions? Anyone had experience with this? Cause 800 to buy outright is ridiculous.

if you call retentions, i highly doubt they can do much anymore your plan especially if you want to do a hardware upgrade. thats the shit part about these 2 year contracts.
but do the math.
90$ x 24 = 2160 + 250 = 2410
65$ x 24 = 1560 + 800 = 2360
these are based on a 2 year term. the longer you stay with the current plan, the cheaper it gets. you can do the math for 3 years or 4 years. its worth it to keep the plan and buy the device out right.
but try retentions and see what they can do. i have a feeling that they won't be able to come up with a plan that is as good as your current one

Throw the $25 extra that you would have paid monthly with an extra $15 on top into the credit card bill. That portion of your credit card will be paid off in 2 years.
So same shit. The difference is, you're not bound to a contract in 2 years.
Take a big hit, with the freedom to switch, etc etc. Or take a small hit, and be tied to a contract on a shittier plan.

Yeah..no luck on getting a hardware upgrade without increasing monthly payments. They were offering that "fab 10" plan again if I decided to upgrade. I don't even call up to 10 people..
I'll just stick with my Xperia ZL until it dies. Only use it for whatsapp/text and streaming music in the car/gym anyway. Oh the joys of 6gb data. Never have to ask "what's the wifi password?" |

for what its worth, i called their business department directly. not sure if that played a role in anything.
