Do you guys feel the 3G is sometimes pretty laggy? I mean I expect since my bill is tripled of what Mobilicity users pay, it should be constantly fast or something. When I work at RC or walking around, sometimes it just lags terribly or it doesn't even load at all. Idk if it's the density of the mall, or the amount of users using 3G, or just bad reception.

Thing is, I actually woke up one day and thought I should get data. Called rogers and had a pretty nice guy probably in his 20's. We talked for a while and when I said I wanted to add data he said instead of $25 500mb I can have $30 for 6gb. Well, I guess I was lucky or something and we kinda clicked (no homo) so that's why he gave me a plan like this. Usually I get pretty nice people around mid 20's and they always seem pretty cool to talk to, but I mean if they don't give you the plan you want, say you'll think about it and call back, simple as that, don't need to rage.

So far my plan is: (EPP+Data add on)
-150 weekday mins
-unlim text
-unlim after 6+weekends
-VM, CID, CF
-6GB data

Total comes to $62.80 approx a month

THANK YOU. I thought it was just me. Like I have to walk around the mall to even get some data going on. I feel like complaining and questioning as to why this is happening to me when I pay them that much

I sometimes work at the general insurance place near McD. Near the counter the reception is okay, if I go into the back room, then it's

LOL. Look at what I was offered:

250 Mins
Unlim after 6 + weekends
Unlim text
call display
voicemail

$51+tax

Yes this was from a Retentions rep. LOL. Are they really trying to drive their customers away?

It seems to me that Rogers is just no longer willing to bargain and work down to what would make the customer happy.

It's entirely possible that what they're doing is just basically driving away the people who just want to work at getting a bargain and who live in the areas where they can switch to the newer/cheaper providers, so that they can increase the revenues from their existing customers.

There's not a lot of places that Rogers can expand to in terms of revenue streams, so it wouldn't surprise me if they did "consolidate" in this way. There are a decent number of people who leave the major cities on a regular basis (or who just don't live in them), which means they'll have no choice but to stay with Robellus.

Wow that's horrible. I consider my plan quite stacked and it's cheaper than what you're getting offered. But yea, they are very restrictive on what they offer now.

Rogers is tired of people trying to bargain down there plans. The more people hear about good deals, the more people will try to match those plans. In Vancouver, they know they dominate reception at crucial areas where others fail to provide good service such as UBC, SFU, and the skytrain stations (damn skytrains ). Also, what you said about people leaving/not in areas where good service is provided by other companies is very true.

The majority of people with iPhones seem to gravitate towards Rogers/Fido, although I do know that Bell offers them (not too sure about Telus). Rogers knows this and they are taking a bigger advantage of it than they did when the iPhone was first launched.

Simply put by the CEO, Rogers doesn't give a rat's ass about their clients who can't afford their plans. They are confident in their quality of reception/data service to not worry about companies such as Mobilicity and their awesome deals. They know that the majority of the people will stick with Rogers as long as they can afford it.

Vancouver is a great example. The majority of the people here are with Rogers and if you tell them about Mobilicity/WIND and their deals here's your most common 3 responses that are all relative to each other:
1) Mobilicity/WIND is new and their reliability of reception/data service isn't that great. What's the point?
2) I can already afford my Rogers plan so what's the point? (You see them Benz/BMWs/Audis/Ferrawris/Lambos/HondaCIVICs)
3) They don't have the iPhone.

Bell/Telus are starting to generate a bigger clientele base but they aren't that different from Rogers.

WIND I don't see doing too well since their advertising is very downplayed, at least in Vancouver. Mobilicity is doing an awesome job with their ads, but they're the new players on the block trying to make a name for themselves which inevitably makes 7/10 people concerned about their reliability.

I am a student and I would love to switch to Mobilicity. Despite their plans, their lack of reception in areas where I need it is causing me to stay with Rogers. Hopefully Mobilicity steps it up in the campus areas.

The thing about retentions getting stricter is because of all the idiots on redflags or word of mouth telling their friends to call and get a deal. Now everyone is calling them asking for credits or a better plan.

Totally ruined it for people who were almost or are done their contracts looking to negotiate for a better deal. These are the people that should be calling retentions not some phone whore who upgraded to the iphone 4 last year and now want the 4s looking to have the hup fee waived, activation fee waived and looking for credits to make their bill cheaper. Calling in threatening to cancel does nothing, I'm not sure why people don't understand that

I think the rep was trying to fuck around with me. I have two lines, one of them I got from retentions 2 months ago. It basically had what I listed above except with 300mins instead of 250, and for $33.xx tax included. I called in to see if I can get this plan copied and pasted into my 2nd line, which is still relatively new (less than 6months).

She told me they cannot do that because that plan has expired, and that the above is the BEST she can do.......totally made me LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

I also asked if she can give me data on my 3+ year line for a discounted price, she said no either, $25 for 500mb, take it or leave it.

I think theres really no point in calling to retentions unless your contract is about to expire. Which is another 34 months away for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but thats the point of retentions, and also exactly what hotjoint is saying. You dont call in asking for discounts. Thats not what they're there for. The point of retentions is to RETAIN customers who have expiring contracts so they dont go elsewhere. No wonder she gave you the "take it or leave it" attitude

Exactly, why is he calling retentions in the first place?

What rogers needs to do is first pull up the persons account and see that if they have 6 or less months left in their contract. They should only be dealing with customers who are within 6 months of their contract ending or want to cancel outright.

If they have more than 6 months then they should tell the customer that they're not able to do anything for them until they reach that point.
If the customer threatens to cancel then they should forward them over to the cancellation department. Guaranteed that 90% of these people would hang up during the transfer because they're just bsing about wanting to cancel to get a better deal.

This would reduce the overall bs calls that they receive from idiots who sign up for a 3 year contract then call in 2 months later try to get a better plan or credits because their friend told them so.

All the greedy people ruined the retentions department. It's not entirely the consumers fault, there's just as much blame on rogers for allowing people to abuse this system over time. It's pretty sad what's happened

I dunno what the general population on RS spends on average per month, but for unlimited pretty much everything I'd say its decent?

No CID or VM included?
