Signed a new activation earlier this week with the help of my friend (works at Rogers)

350 outgoing mins
1000 incoming mins
Unlimited Rogers to Rogers (nationwide)
6PM evenings/unlimited weekends
Unlimited messaging (pic/text/vid)
Caller ID and voicemail
6GB data

Just $60 after taxes, and with $200 worth of credits, I pay only $20 for the first five months.

Got a HTC One on top of it for $0

Not bad I don't think compared to the rest of the contracts out there..

I had the 60$ 6 gig super plan + 10$ credit to make up for paying for the call display/name display

Just looked on my bill today and realized that the 10$ credit ends sept 11, 2013. Back then it was negotiated to make up for the call display/name display so i assumed it would be until end of contract.

Called in, wouldnt budge. Nice guy, but he said that they changed the policies, and reducing/eliminating the discounts for all retention plans because the plans are already "the best plans". Mentioned I have friends who have way better plans then me, and he told me that when the time comes they probably wont be able to renew that plan, and that I already dont nickel and dime them cause i think what im paying is currently fair. Still cant do shit...

from $65 all in, to $77 all in...

Any advice?

I am in the same boat, looking to switch to Wind Mobile's $33 plan...

Cancellation fee for me is +- $430 with 30 months left to the term... I currently pay $69 taxes in. If I were to switch, I'd be saving $32 monthly which allows me to save over $400 in the long run. And if I got a phone with Wind, I'd be able to cover most of the cancellation fees. However, I'm scared that I might not get any reception/data in some areas..

I would go to cancellations and say you are not happy with the new changes and wish to cancel. They will try to scare you with a hefty cancellation fee, just say "OK thats fine, ill go with one of the bargain providers and in the long run, ill save money". That's what I did. They should budge in my experience. If not, just say you'll call back.

Thats what I heard and they told me the same thing when I renewed my contract. Sitting at $58 taxes in a month. Same plam. Credits expire on Dec 31.

What I wanted to negotiate was the $17.50 voice plan+ $30 6GB add on. Then I won't need their fucking credits

I spent an hour on the phone to get the 17.5+30 plan but that was back in March when 3 year contracts were allowed .

If you guys get the 17.50 + $30 6GB, where does caller ID, voice mail and text come in?

I just tried to get a plan around the $17.50 on my Fido line and building around it seems to be a bit hard(or maybe the reps just suck).

Gave them a shitty review on the survey they sent me

Girl from rogers called me and asked whats up, 20 min later, I got my 10$ discount til the end of my contract

The girl who helped me out, I told her to send me the survey and give me her employee number so I can write it up again.

She said that its all automated, and gave me her employee number, she said it might come it might not.


Maybe the representatives filter out the reviews, I reviewed that the rep was pretty good (either 4-5) but the service is shit (0-1). Maybe the reps just pick and choose who they think is gonna be easy to talk to, meh who knows

same.. got the survey...told him I felt I wasn't getting the best value out of my plan..and got a $10 discount. all irrelevant cuz the contract ends next week/29th and i'm heading to WIND.

From what I've heard they don't offer that at all anymore. A few pages back someone said they got a $20 basic plan which is better because it includes text, caller id, and vm.

Are they still offering the 6GB plan? I heard they took that off the shelf completely

^ they took the 6gb add-on completly off. the only plan with 6gbs of data now costs $90 and up

Is there anyway I can get Rogers to waive my early upgrade fee or bring the cost down? I wanna get a note 3 and my contract expires 14 months from now. On Rogers website it says my early upgrade fee is $280!

Luck I suppose.

I hear people having success when they threaten to cancel cause of a better offer, and they go to retentions negotiate a new plan, and add on early upgrade fee waived.

Last time I tried this back in Oct 2012, did not work, they did take off 50$ off the early upgrade fee though, and I got a plan I was fairly happy with.

With 2 year plans now, $45-55 plans are gone.

my contract is expiring next month. I've called retentions... 4x
Best deal you can get WITH a hardware upgrade (5s, GS3, Note 3) is $75 before tax
2 GB DATA
Unlimited Canada wide
Unlimited Pic/Vid/Text
Caller ID/VM + call forwarding etc.

If you don't let Rogers subsidize you phone, you can get that exact same plan for $55/month.

Monthly prices are going up to subsidize the new phones. **Min $60 plan to get HUP**
I've done the calculations, if you buy out a phone and go on a month to month plan, its the same as going on a $75 plan with a $239 iPhone 5s. Only issue is, you take a hit buying the phone outright. It's the same as leasing a car.

Everyone on Red Flag Forum is having the same problem. Tough to get a deal now! If you have a grandfathered 6 gig plan, stick with it and buy out your next phone.

^ this. my phone got stolen this year and when i checked my HUP had an early upgrade fee of about $50. talked to the CSR and told them my case and would like to HUP early with no fee. CSR said no can do and i said i wanted to cancel. went to retentions, got what i wanted with the early upgrade fee waived.

Here is my story. I called in saying I wanted to switch because I wanted a galaxy s4. I had 24 months left on my flextab agreement (contract). I told the guy on the phone that I am willing to pay off any amount on the flextab and go with bell.

Basically this is what happened, my flextab was at $330.xx. He told me my HUP fee was at $480.xx. He promised me that they'll match the HUP fee with my flextab and match the phone price with FS promotion, which was initially $179.95 on two years to $49.95. What basically happen here is I had to pay for the galaxy s3 I signed for a year ago, which I was willing to anyways, because I was already planning on switching. But with the deal I get for the phone, and be able to keep my 6gb plan, I calculated that it wasn't worth it after all and only resigning for 2 years, I'm basically only adding like 5 days to my contract.

They haven't billed me yet so I have to see what kinda adjustment they're making. I think he said I'll get $50 back for early upgrade discount or something. I remember reading on a pamphlet at the store that early upgrade will receive a $50 discount.

Anyways, if you're good at negotiating you can probably get the whole HUP fee waived, otherwise, they'll match it with your flextab, which is initially lower than your HUP fee.
