Ordered a bag just now. After searching for a long time, I think I may have found a winner. It was so obscure that I'm pretty sure I'll be the only one with it in town. I can't even find a single thing written about it in English.
So I was about to buy an Ona bag but I didn't really want one. It wasn't exactly what I wanted and it was expensive so I searched everywhere. Then I came across this...Herringbone Postman. I have a Herringbone (some Korean accessories company) grip strap but I didn't know they made bags. There is literally zero reviews of this bag in English and finding stuff on it on Google was impossible.
But I just picked it up. Less than $200 with taxes and shipping. Very good quality. Well made canvas and leather. The interior is a linen. Lots of pockets and it's quite small...about the size of a 13" Macbook. Fits a my X-T1 system perfectly.

wanted to get an A7RII for my F1 trip, but couldn't find it available anywhere, and I missed out on the pre-order, then I was checking out the airport stores and none of them had em either :/
but I found one when I came back from my trip -_- didn't care at first but it was for $800 less than MSRP so I couldn't resist and bit!
Need a lens for it though, I'm just using my Nex 3N's pancake
It's damn near impossible to buy a A7RII and have one same day, at least with us. We're still filling pre-orders and will be for at least another month. Hot camera...I haven't even been able to open one yet.

so i wanted to get a tripod and im kind of shocked at the difference in pricing
so i was wondering if you guys have suggestions? or some info on whats the difference with the pricing? I was checking out 'manfrotto' and their Compact line can be found for like $80 Compact Series New - Tripods - Collections | Manfrotto
am i missing something? they seem the same to me... and then there's the no-name ones found on ebay or amazon which look like copies for a fraction of the price and they even fold up to be slightly shorter...
im just looking for something basic, that maybe i'll bring with me on vacation
do i need to worry about the ebay/amazon versions falling apart on me?
I know it seems like it's just a piece of metal but a good tripod makes a world of difference. Try it out. See how much flex there is in the legs. Try out the locking mechanisms and make sure the head fits your needs.
I have a MeFoto Roadtrip that I regret buying really. It's not bad but there's still quite a bit of flex in the legs.
Sirui makes some decent budget tripods that are well built. Gitzo is the Ferrari of tripods but expensive as hell. Don't buy cheap garbage. It will just break and you'll have to buy another one. Buy a quality tripod that will last.
Dads new canon 70D came into the mail much lighter then his old film camera. He seems pretty happy with it but I didn't look into if the old flashes would work with his new camera and they don't...
The older EZ flashes are not compatible with the new DSLRs I tried setting it manually while on the camera but I can't change any of the settings while it is connected to the camera so they are useless. In Auto mode it shoots off in full power lol
so should he buy a Canon Speedlite 430EX II or wait for the Canon Speedlite 430EX III-RT. I doubt he will use the radio frequency feature ever
^Is TTL a must? If not, you can go 3rd party such as Yongnuo. If the flash is going to live on the camera, it's not that hard to adjust the output on the flash itself as opposed to adjusting the FEC setting.
He will want TTL, I will let him know about the Yongnuo YN-568EX II and Yongnuo YN600EX-RT.
I think he's going to want to stick to a canon one though
As someone who's owned both, just tell him straight up there's no point. The Yongnuo's are literal clones. I've never had one crap out on me (yet), and I have several.
I think there are certain things you should stick to OEM and some that are just better as third party knockoffs because you save money. I only buy third party batteries since you can usually get 4-5 of them for the price of one OEM battery and sometimes they're even better. GoPro/Wasabi comes to mind, especially.
^actually yeah you can get even more if you find the right buyer. good ones with working metering and clear viewfinders can fetch 100 but you may have to be patient.
on that note, where is a good place for buying 35mm film in terms of price and selection?
i bought 5 rolls of tri-x 400 on amazon for $5 USD a pop which is pretty good but have to grab it in the states
