I use windows XP everyday. And on my mac I use OS X everyday. I dont need to justify my purchase of my mac. Everyday it proves itself as the top of the line machine it is. And even though PCs may not crash as much as they did in the past, they still freeze and lag up like mofos. That rarely happens on my mac.

Oh, and as Soundy said, the higher end PCs and Macs use more top of the line equipment, then the shitty PCs. After you get a good PC, and upgrade it and get the keyboard and LCD screen, you are almost in the same price range as a good iMac. Most people dont realize this. Macs arent that expensive. The MBP I think are a little on the pricey side, but I still think its worth it if you can afford it.
As for the software, OS X is superior to Windows XP, and possibly Vista(I have next to no experience with vista yet). OS X Leopard is coming out soon, which Im positive will rock vista. Why do you think XP looks so much like OS X? Windows copies Apple soooo much. They even get sued over it.

If I could get OSX on a PC and have it stable, I would. I just love the OS ><. Thus I'm stuck with a mac, not that there's anything wrong with that, lol.

BTW: I'm typing this on my very stable Athlon XP 1700+ that's like 5 years old now, haha. Radeon 8500 FTL. (Was awesome 5-6yrs ago).

Ok, it's one thing to argue that you use Apple products because they look pretty and you prefer OSX, but to say that they're higher in build quality is laughable.

Now, CPUs are going to be the same across the board. As are harddrives (seagate i believe is what apple uses now).

LCD panels are the same as really, there's only a handful of companies out there making panels. If you're convinced that apple monitors are in some way superior, then just research the pink banding issue with the 23" lcd that has been persistent for years along with the outcry over apple using shitty tn panels in their newest 20" imac.

That leaves us with motherboards, ram and the case as the differentiating factor.

I think their current OEM now is Foxconn which makes the same boards for damn near anyone and they're use ECS and Asus in the past. I dare anyone to show me ECS making high quality products. Apple is just like every other manufacturer - building stuff for as cheap as possible.

As for higher quality memory - it's the same shit. Apple buys the OEM stuff from Samsung, Hynix, etc.

The reason there are $300 sticks of ram is because the third party companies like corsair, OCZ, etc are specially binning chips to run at tighter timings and at higher frequencies, then adding their third party markup. Obviously, only a certain number of chips will go to that level thus prices increases according to supply and demand.

Apple stuff runs at normal frequencies with very conservative timings which means there isn't a need to bin to that level.

That leaves you with the case which I'll concede is damn nice, but not without their share of problems.

You're ignorant if you think that. As we said, the OS is far superior to Windows. Its not just the machine. Wow, you can search google, and look up stuff? Now what do you think i would find if I googled "PC problems". Id probably millions of results. Sure, Apple products have some problems...everything does, to think that one product is flawless, would be ignorant. Why do you think there is warranty? Because problems can occur.
