anyone know a local store that carries Westcott products?

looking for this: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc..._Recessed.html

Senna4ever 11-16-2009 07:52 PM

The Canadian distributor doesn't carry the 28"x28" size for some reason. I can get the 16"x16" size though. We stock a similar Photoflex softbox:

So if I want the 28" I am stuck getting it from the states? damn

That photoflex is quite a bit different. The apollo mounts reverse, and opens up and mounts like an umbrella. So the light is reflected back at the diffusion material, not shot straight at it like the photoflex you linked. That and I can fit an alienbee in it, not just speedlights.

Yup. As far as I could tell, it's not available in Canada. I can phone and check for you though. All I did was check the Westcott catalogue. The Westcott products I've seen so far seem to be a bit fragile, so be careful when you use it.

77civic1200 11-17-2009 07:41 AM

Ya if you could check that would be great, can you get me a price as well?

Its either that one, or maybe the alienbees foldable softboxes, the alienbees accept their cheap grids, which would be nice. I was just hoping to pick one up before the weekend =(

bikerx 11-17-2009 11:41 AM

^ in for the price plz

Senna4ever 11-19-2009 01:39 AM

I checked with the Canadian distributer, and they can get get it as a special order, but the cost is stupidly expensive. My cost will be $200+. Get it from B&H.

Kyle, I've got 2x 30" convertible umbrellas with mounts if you want to borrow them.

77civic1200 11-19-2009 07:17 AM

I've got a couple umbrellas that I normally use with my speedlights, I'm just not a fan of them, not enough control on the spread.

Thanks though.

dspirit79 11-19-2009 04:31 PM

I've got a 60" Westcott Apollo, works awesome.

Not flimsy IMHO.

77civic1200 11-19-2009 05:41 PM

I'm not finding any info for a 60"? sure its not the 50"?

Where did you get yours?

77civic1200 11-19-2009 05:45 PM

oh, and do you use a modeling light with it at all? should I be worried about heat?

underscore 11-19-2009 06:20 PM

I'm assuming Mana knows of this? Props!
