The noise seemed to have dampened by itself. Its quite silent now. Weird.
I guess i had to give it a good break-in

I picked up the 35mm last night. AF is quiet, fast too. I'll miss the wonderful bokeh of the 50mm 1.4, but the 35mm is just more practical, at least for now.

does anybody know what is causing the differences in water colour?(the right half and from the ship in the middle). is it the cloud pattern doing that? no filter used in this shot, pic is simply resized.

in this second one, the blue tone in the water(top right) seems to come out of nowhere.

shadow is my first bet, then depth of water being second.

insomniac 08-01-2011 03:16 AM

Reflection of the clouds probably because the sky is what makes the water blue right?

the edges of the colour changes in the top pic seem almost too defined, weird.

N.V.M. 08-01-2011 06:09 AM

Yup. It was left over when I sold my canon one a while back. =P
I just ordered a offbrand hood for the 70-200 to cut up too. :)

interesting solution, same lens, same problem here. i may try to one up that that one. :D

insomniac 08-03-2011 10:23 PM

lol i cant justify buying a r-strap for $70+ so i diy'd a strap for under $5.. i basically took the strap from my adidas gym bag and clipped it to my tripod head thingy.. whatever you call it.
question is it safe to have the clips there? it works great ! lol (in the pic it looks small but you can adjust it)
i mean i used to carry textbooks and sports gear in my gym bag so im just wondering if it is safe? ie the mount thing will loosen?
anyone clip their straps to that bolt thing?

Your camera is worth more than your books no? I'd trust a metal ring instead though.

nice! i have an extra 70-200 hood as well and i should do that too :D
neat idea!

gars 08-04-2011 03:15 PM

ya, I remember the 70-400mm G Lens has a built in little slot that opens up so you can adjust the CPL. That would be perfect for me...

but NOBODY (almost nobody.... hehe) owns an Alpha, and not many can afford that lens.

Damn you Rich, I need to make a slow now. have to buy extra hoods for all my lenses.....

Who makes the best handstrap suited for street photography/lightweight setup. XSI + 50mm

!MiKrofT 08-04-2011 04:24 PM

Canon does? But I think it only works if you have a battery grip.

Yeah my thoughts exactly. Do u want to dangle yourself from a plastic ring? or a metal ring? :)

Do note. As you clip and unclip from your camera the plastic will fatigue and eventually snap.

I've just been too lazy to order the blackrapid.

Sigh new NEX-5. I only want the new one cause it supports the new OLED EVF :( New EVF won't support the first gen NEX-5. Anyway, other news is NEX-7 and Alpha A77! The NEX-7 Looks effing amazing!!!! Tempted to buy. Anyone want my NEX-5? there's some minor nicks.

Senna4ever 08-18-2011 12:34 AM

If the rumours are true, the A77 looks to be an interesting camera. Maybe it's a good thing I kept my Sony/Minolta glass & flashes!

StylinRed 08-18-2011 01:25 AM

question :D

i've been checking out this N8 photo group on flickr and i saw some fantastic pics and i've been trying to mimic some shots ive seen but i can't get it right at all

something like this
http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6088/...a5fe17db_b.jpg

i asked the guy how he took it and he simply said he used a Nikon Filter and Secret Settings with his N8 and wouldn't divulge anything else :/

i'd love to learn how to take pics like that but ive got no clue where to start and i doubt popping a filter in front of my phone will suddenly let me take pics like that and i wouldn't know what kind of filter to use
(plus im not about to spend that kinda cash for filters for a phone :/)

any tips suggestions would be very much appreciated ^^

For the price point the rumours are quoting, the A77 is quite competitive if not a "deal". I'm just interested in the Video capabilities of it!s

Another rumour that's swirling around is that sony will release brand spanking new Sensor for it's long rumoured Full-Frame cameras next year. That's a pretty big rumour, if true.

Hey guys,
I was wondering what you guys use to store your photos in? External HDs? Internal HDs? I'm looking into getting a external HD, one that has good back up option and that is around 1TB+. I've been shooting in RAW format and it takes up crazy space. I was looking at a Drobo but its way out of my budget. Anyways, what do you guys recommend?

Senna4ever 08-18-2011 12:49 PM

You can get those Western Digital external drives, but I usually buy a regular desktop HD and buy a decent enclosure for it - that way you know what you're getting, as I have heard that the drives in those Western Digital external drives are not of the best quality.

I have double redundancy - I have a back-up drive, and I have two back-ups of that drive stored in different places, one at my parents' house, and the other at my work place.
