That's a great price! I'd jump on it, if you can handle it!

Agreed. If I was in the market for a 60D, i'd be all over that 7D sale.

i use kodak paper and tiffen solution. i take it you have good filters or glass 'cause it still smears and kind of hard to get off.

If it's for cleaning filters, I use the Zeiss lens cleaning cloth. You can get them down in the US Wal-mart's electronics section. Work like a charm and very cheap too.

I think it was around $3.50? or something like that a box of 50 when on sale. Disposable and a must-keep item in your camera bag.

Epic. Thanks for the info. I was looking at Zeiss cleaning liquid too. But I thought it was only available at speciality camera places or only online. I'm currently in the states so I will check out the Walmart tip!!

i'm looking at purchasing a polarizer for my 24mm and was wondering what type of filters are people using on their lenses?

a few friends just suggested some 77mm screw ins, and some older gentleman i bumped into at stanley park suggested i invest in those square filters like Lee's.

any suggestions or recommendations? might eventually pick up a ND filter too if you have any suggestions on those as well.

Thanks

For filters (including cir. pol.) I recommend Hoya HD. A bit expensive, but again, it's something that you buy once and last pretty much forever. The HD is best in the term of easiness to clean and stay clean. I have yet come across anything that matches it in that aspect.

You can look it up on fleebay for HK/China dealers... they usually have the best deal. But shipping time is PITA.

I find Camera Filters, B+W, Hoya, Daisee, NISSIN Low prices on Maxsaver , Sales Tax and Shipping are Free has some of the best prices online for filters.

You can sometimes save a few bucks on Ebay - but at least with maxsaver you know they're reliable and won't have fakes. They have sales all the time as well.

They carry most of the Hoya line, all the B+W line, plus random ones I've never heard of... But again - they're shipping from HK so will take a while.

When I use filters, I use either B+W multi-coat or Heliopan.

Nikon D4 announcement imminent (this friday)

Nikon D4 will have substantially lighter body
Available in February
Suggested retail price: $6,000
The ISO range is listed again as 100 to 102,400, expandable to 50 to 204,800. Those were the original D4 specs I published back in December but then I had to correct them. I guess I was wrong in my correction.
91,000-pixel RGB metering sensor
Face detection/recognition
100% viewfinder coverage (obviously)
Illuminated function buttons
Dedicated video button
Includes H.264 B frame compression
Contrast detect AF in movie recording
Low-pass filter for video recording
Smooth aperture feature for video recording

How come no one talked about the new Sony Flash cards. XQD!!!

It's apparently being used in the Nikon D4. When the D4 is utilized with this card, you can shoot up to 100 frames RAW in continuous shooting mode!!!

Apparently they have a rated theoretical space of 2TBs and they're rated at 125MB/s.

Oops, spoke too soon! Santa (Nikon Canada) brought something to me today. Got to shoot with it for a little bit, but I wasn't allowed to keep any of the images I shot with the camera, but the thing handles like a dream - the video quality is stunning, as is the refresh rate on the rear LCD. 204,800 ISO images seem to look like D3s images @ 51,200 ISO! I can't wait to put it through its paces.
