'P' for Professional.
I'm in aperture priority mode most of the time and manual mode.

I've had the 1.8, and as long as you never ever hold your entire camera by the lens when it's attached, it's fine. Just do be a bit more careful since it's plastic...
If you have a crop, I recommend the sigma 30mm 1.4. Or the sigma 50mm 1.4. They're both very good lenses. | the Sigma 30mm f1.4 had a lot of issues when it first came out - lots of them with issues backfocusing or front focusing. I had a buddy who bought them off Amazon.co.uk - went through 3 copies which all had problems before he gave up. I heard newer ones are a lot better, but you have to test them out properly before walking away with it.

The newer ones aren't as bad.
I have one - and my first copy was good. I bought 2 more just in case to compare and they were all similar.

...so I bought a m42 adapter for my 5D3 and a couple cheapo lenses (like $20 each) off eBay and Craigslist.
Testing the Helios 44-2, which is a 58mm f2.0 lens made in Soviet Union, comrade! Check out the bokeh...looks totally random! Sharp but flares like crazy at f2. Stop down to f2.8. Made very solid but also weirdly shoddy. The aperture ring is backwards! f16 = f2 and f2 = f16, WTF. Smooth ring though so great for video.
Here's what it looks like: |

A little bit of oil on the aperture rings but I'm told that's normal. Very little damage...a few scratches but the lens is very solid apart from the aperture ring being backwards. Focus is smoother than some of my L lenses...
I bought it off some guy, not one of the big sellers but he had 900+ feedback and 100% so I thought it was fine. Shipped January 9th, arrived this morning. Took a week to get here after it left the Ukraine. Shit, it bounced around for two weeks inside the country before it got shipped.
Mounts and works perfectly on my Nikon FE too! Can't wait to get some film to play with.

everytime i come upon some videos on youtube of people having a photoshoot, why do they use such a long lens for when shooting someone ? they dont seem to be more then ... 10meters away from eachother (max) and the photographer is always using a giant lens. What lens do you guys think this is ?

I have someone who wants to buy one of my scenery photos. I would like to print it in metallic paper for them.
Anyone know how to go about this.. Senna?
Cost approx, and perhaps what paper sizes are available. Also, for this to work nicely, what sort of frame is best? No glass? Or does glass still work with the effect?

You have to be careful with metallic - not all images will suit it.
Try The Lab or ABC Photo. They can do it, and I'm sure pricing is on their website too. They will also consult with you to make the print look good, and they also have various mounting options you can choose from.

I think that would look awesome on metallic paper. If I didn't hate to travel so much I'd love to go there myself.

Just wondering what you guys use for post-processing.
It seems that LR would be optimal if you want to change basic things such tones, contrast, etc. Whereas PS is for more advanced usage in terms of PP.
I've been using just PS for the past month, but I do very minor edits that I think could be sped up with LR.
Also, is there a book that you guys would recommend for PP like there is Understanding Exposure for DSLR noobs?

I use a combination of LR and PS. I can get a lot done just with LR and the heavier editing I transfer the photo into PS
