Lol I recognized you from as early as the ceremony in the afternoon. Also walked right by you when you guys were shooting outside of Prestons in the cold around 4pm.
I was sitting at table 22.
I'm good friends with both bride and groom! Actually work in same company as the groom as well.
Yes the ladies at my table were bawling their eyes out during that speech. I think the water works started for them right when he said "you will always be daddys little girl"

have to keep my back free so i picked up a LowePro Vest/Belt equipment system. obviously that's not me because i wear my cap backwards, like a true professional.
no, i won't be walking around town like this, just out shooting birds.
What are you guys thoughts on watermarking photos?
I watermark to get exposure. If someone wants to steal my photos, its going to happen and there's nothing really I can do about it. At least a watermark makes them work a bit harder

If you are going to watermark pics, do it somewhere people can't crop.
I usually just leave it in the middle or just allover with opacity at very low (10~20%). This way, people can still see the pic as it originally intended to show while making it very difficult for people to steal them.
My tripod really sucks. What tripod legs would you guys recommend for wildlife photography? From what I've seen from fellow bird photographers, Gitzo seems to be the favourite but I'm not sure what model number.

I think it really depends on your setup and budget. If i recall, you don't have anything that's gonna bend some lesser tripods. Some travel Gitzo's would be great 1-series could handle a body + 70-200 2.8 or so. Other than that a popular choice is the Manfrotto 055 tripods. Carbon is sexy too!
Speaking of tripods, I want a better one too for my 500. Anyone got a spare $1000?

has anybody seen any backpacks with a hard spine in it? i'm specifically looking for backpack to carry the 500mm around, so long, narrow-ish, with a plate or spine in it.
Yea I don't have anything great just yet but I will be purchasing a 300mm VR f2.8 so I'd like something sturdy and carbon fibre if possible. My old Manfrotto couldn't even handle the 300mm f4 that I had in the past.

Those stills are amazing! Whenever I travel I shoot video and Photos, I definitely have a hard time juggling between which one I want to shoot. I tend to shoot more photos now than videos but sometimes I do wish I could've captured those moments. Hopefully the two comes into a great fusion and I can get great video and photos all in one!.
just scored a Canon 15-85 f3.5-5.6 second hand for AU$150
There's two very miniscule nicks on the front element, but after thorough testing with both the seller's 7D and my own Camera, there's no visible affect on image quality thru natural light and flash.
Pretty good deal IMO considering my 17-85's aperture controller died 2 days ago and I was without a general walkaround
