How much in average does it cost to get a roll of film done
both negative and slide films.
Not those cheap London drug style but you know,
and recommend me some place to get them done as well
I would like to do my homework before i make the purchase.
i use to do photography in Korea and it was very cheap
and i'm wondering how much they are here..

london drugs is hardly cheap style =D
if you do it at Lens and shutter,
Develop alone (no prints)
costs $3 for negative films
around $5 or so for slide films.

and i think if you want a film body, then get the F100 for $450 for sure!
the F100 is the 2nd highest model for Nikon,
and $450 is a great price for any cameras.

-I take my negative film to Kerrisdale Camera. They're more expensive than LD, but the quality is much better.
-For slides, I buy the processing-included film at Lens & Shutter/Custom Colour and take it to Custom Colour for processing. They can usually have it done in 3 hours.
-For B&W, I buy the processing-included Kodak Tri-X at G.King and have it processed there.
-For B&W medium format, I take my film to The Lab for contact prints, then have them custom printed at Pacific Light Impressions in Yaletown.
I'll pay $500 for the F100!!!

damn! this camera is so damn sweet
gona get mine order soon (if i have any $$ left)
this is a Sony N1 with less MP (6 vs 8, very minor difference), 3" screen (230,000 pix don't affect me), turn dial (like the s80, 20d, 5d etc), WiFi that i don't use, 640x480 in 30fps, etc etc.. you just have to see this thing in real life!!!
Also played with the Nikon P3. VERY good VR
just wish it looked better.

Hey guys,
I'm looking at THIS deal online: http://www.compusa.com/products/prod...382&pfp=BROWSE
I'm comparing that to buying a good point and shoot like an SD500 or something of that nature and wondering how you guys would compare them?
The one thing that I'm really not happy with about that camera is the lack of portability, I think I would really prefer a camera that was easier to slip into a pocket, etc.
Does the SD500 (or some similarly priced/featured option) have the same level of adjustability (hopefully manual focus and a few other tweaks at least?)?

u will have much more control of your settings with the S2 IS.
it depends on what u are looking for and what u are willing to trade off (size for function, etc.)
there are other cameras like the A610 or A520 that aren't as big which will have the manual functions of the S2 IS as well as many others

what is the general price range?
i want to purchase the camera and try it..
and if i don't like it.. i want to sell it on revscene
but i want to know i can at least get my original investment back

I'm looking at the A610 vs the S2, what kind of differences am I going to notice, besides the pricetag? Are there more manual features on the S2? I noticed the A610 with that grip is not really pocket size anyways so I may as well go for the S2 and buy a crappy digi cam for "taking around".

why the S2?
why not the G6?
i dunno about the price,
but the G6 can take hot shoe flashes, and this feature alone makes it better than S2

S2 can use a slave flash attached to the hole screw for tripod mounts.. like the OM1/2 series slrs...
I like my s2 alot, it has full manual features and with some attachements, it can fit many different filters. If you want to get the S2 cheep...get it now, cuz canon is going to release the S3 soon.. http://www.revscene.net/forums/showt...hreadid=372754

| WTB: High End digital SLR Camera
alright, im looking for a good SLR camera. What i thought to be high end is apparently considered entry level to intermediate according to some threads i've read.
Im looking to spend about 1000-1300 on the camera.
Suggestions or anyone selling a good system?

As for Canon this is how it ranges:
Digital Rebel ~700+ used - First entry Lvl
Digital Rebel xt for ~825+ used - Second entry step
20D for ~1200+ used - 3rd entry lvl
Then the next camera has a much bigger $$$ gap
If your a starter i'd recommend the Rebel or a Rebel xt

For Nikon:
Entry-level = D50 ~ $700 new
Intermediate = D70/D70s ~ $950 new
for used ones knock off about 200~300 depending on condition of the camera.
then you have the pro stuff:
Semi-pro = D200 ~ $2150 new
Pro = D2Hs/D2x ~ $3900-$ 5700 new
there you go.
I think Nikon's lineup and pricing are very competitive these days... good for us consumers I suppose

well I think you know my answer to that already, no?
If you know more people with Canon gear, it'd be nice to have the ability to try out or borrow lenses from them. Makes things much simpler and easier.
and vice versa.
It really doesn't matter THAT much which system you buy into, but once you're in you better stay with it - jumping between 2 systems is very very expensive, espeically if you have invested in some lenses already.
Goto any local camera stores and try out the cameras on your shopping list and see which one feels "right". It's a tool, so if you don't feel comfortable using it, your work will suffer.
However, I'll have to say that Canon, at the moment, is the leader in sports photography and some fashion/studio stuff. Noise seems to be better-contolled with Canon cameras as well.
Nikon's short primes and zooms seem to have higher quality but really, the difference is minimal.
There really isn't a "better" brand when you compare Nikon and Canon, it's just a matter of personal preference based on what you shoot most of the time.
