What do you think of this camera (Minolta Dimage A200)
http://www.kerrisdalecameras.com/sto...2747&more=true

The anti shake thing and price is very attractive.

Great little camera, but not a dSLR.

I'd say Sigma. You'll probably get better quality because it is apochromatic.

Sitting at two options right now. A little stuck. Just some background info, I am a realtor, and we need a wide angle lens to be able to take virtual tours, and pictures of small rooms (ie. 110 degrees). Here are the two options we are looking at:

1) Buy a SLR "like" camera with a built in image stabalizer (ie. panasonic lumix DMCFZ20S (only shoots 5 megapx), and I think canon has one too) and then put a 0.5x wide angle lens converter on

2) Buy an EOS (Digital Rebel XT), buy a 10mm+ zoom lens. With this camera, we would miss the image stabilizer would we not?

At 10mm, you wouldn't need IS, me thinks.

Get the dSLR, so you can grow into it....with the Lumix, you're stuck with the lens that is attached to the camera. With an SLR, you can buy the lenses tht suit your needs.

Okay, getting ready to finally buy a D-SLR

And these 2 are what I am looking at:

- Canon EOS-XT Kit deal from FS @ $1099.99

or

- Olympus E-500 Kit from FS @ $1199.99

Now, I know the Canon is a better camera, better CMOS and all, but is it better to the point of choosing its kit over the 2 lens kit from Olympus for just $100 more?

What is everyone's opinions here. And yes, I want to buy it from Future Shop because it will go on my card.

I appreciate any comments. Thanks!

go with whichever one feels right

keep in mind that it'll be a heck a lot easier to find used lenses for the Canon, though.

Digital Rebel XT + low light + stock lens kit?

Here is the dilema.

We are considering a Canon S2 IS (comes with image stablizer) or a Digital Rebel (no image stablizer). I'm am a realtor and will be taking virtual tours and upto 90 pictures per property. The converter that we would need to be able to do virtual tours with the canon is $500, and the one that we could use with the rebel only costs $150, which in the end puts the rebel costing about $50 more, with many more benefits, except that it doesn't have an image stablizer.

So my question is, how is the rebel with the stock lens in low light? (In a room during the day when it's clouded over). Can it be done hand held? Because when your taking that many pictures, you dont want to have to set everything up perfectly everytime, not only that, the people want to get on with their lives and dont want you in their house for 3 hours taking pictures!

Get a tripod with the rebel xt and you're set for indoor shots . Better yet, grab a tokina 12-24 for even a wider view! The S2 IS' lens isn't as wide as the kit from the rebel is it? (it's been a long time since i've sold cameras, haha)

my friend has S2 IS and I own Rebel XT

I'd say, Rebel XT is far better for indoor shoot..
even with lack of IS, it's got brighter lens so you should be fine with it..
(or just bump up iso)

another thing to consider is... XT's kit lens at 18mm will have alot wider angle.
which means you will be able to fit more area in one picture
(it will make room looks bigger too...)

Is this a good digi cam?

Please help me! I have no clue about cameras but I am looking into purchasing my first digi cam. I am looking for a slim design that I can take around easily.

Is this good?:

Well, I have been reading through the last few pages of this thread and have gotten some ideas. It is time to retire my old 3.2 MP Kodak. It has been through hell and back, and it still runnin strong. From what I have read, it sounds like a Canon A610 could be a strong candidate. Now here are a few things I didn't like from my old Kodak. Very slow turn on time (From turning the switch on, until takng a picture), could only use there special batteries, was horrible at night.

I am by no means a photographer, but I do like to fool around with them once in a while.

What I am looking for in a camera.
Under $400
Would like to do movies (apparently some can only do movies for a certain period of time?)
Some Manual functions to fool around with

I've just started paying off a Rebel XT, and I'm wondering... what do some of these cameras that are going for 600-700 more than what I'm paying do that the XT wont. Is this going to be enough for me to get started, what would be the benefit of getting something more?

the biggest difference between the 20D/30D and the 350XT

is the body, which is made of magnesium alloy instead of PLASTIC.
and the 20/30D has a MUCH better grip

it has bigger viewfinder

and i think another very important difference is the SPOT meter on the 30D.

image quality itself should be identical (at least very close to)

the 30D probably has more AF zones, faster AF,

maybe a bit more responsive? more FPS too? (3 vs 5)

ALSO,
i use the rebel XT too.

and i think the price difference does NOT used to justify getting a 20D over an XT,

because for the differnce in price u can almost get the 17-40mm f4

but these days the 20D got much cheaper,
so its different.

nope, no difference except for the color
they may be wishing to get rid of the silver colored ones as they get more of the black colored ones
