For that price I'd get a 20D and a 70-200 2.8IS :).

Going used is the best. IMO no point buying new.

Meowjin 07-13-2006 09:23 PM

thats a pretty big ripoff.

Jomo 07-13-2006 09:38 PM

For $2,550 with taxes included, that's a decent deal. You're saving around $300 over buying from a retail outlet such as future shop. There are better deals out there though, and if you're purchasing a few high ticket items like this, you should make your salesman work for your purchase.

So, you're getting a deal as far as being a standard consumer walking into a future shop goes... but you could certainly do better.

i will be going back 2morrow. so how low can i go?

Meowjin 07-13-2006 10:54 PM

i would seriously just buy a 20d. The diffrences from the 30d isn't much. And you will save alot of money, and thats more money for lenses and a bigger memory card.

[YeS.SiR] 07-14-2006 12:10 AM

30D body for under $1400 on ebay.
2GB card for $85 at costco.
decent starter lens for $550 locally.

just over $2000 for everything.

Mr.JDM 07-15-2006 02:18 PM

anyone can recommend a nice fuji camera? planning on getting into photography but, i dont think i will be needing a DSLR quite yet.

Gopher 07-15-2006 03:45 PM

How close do you want to get to slr at this point though... would you want something the size of a deck of cards, or something that has a decently sized lens and some great features?

Mr.JDM 07-15-2006 03:49 PM

something with nice features.size dont matter also. mainly planning to shoot sceneries and such. nice zoom also

dub.dub 07-15-2006 05:27 PM

Did someone tell you that size doesn't matter? ;)

Gopher 07-15-2006 05:44 PM

^^ Im going to guess that it was a short jewish doctor that told him... :D haha

Take a look at the S3:

Mr.JDM 07-16-2006 12:31 AM

hahaha, im trying to decide on either a nice p&s, dlsr type, or a used entry level dslr. trying to budget things around 5-6 bills?

Senna4ever 07-16-2006 03:19 AM

Panasonic FX01.

Arislo 07-16-2006 10:01 AM

Hey Jason how is the Panasonic TZ1 ?

Senna4ever 07-16-2006 10:11 AM

TZ1 is good, but the FX01 has a wider angle. 28mm vs. 35mm equivalent.

I suggest finding a used d50 or rebel xt. They can run pretty cheap.

Mr.JDM 07-16-2006 02:56 PM

you guys know where i can find one? i've looked at craigslist and broadway camera buy sell forum.
theres this guy selling his canon 300D that any good?
also considering s2is or s3is, fuji s5200 or fuji dslr
inputs and suggestions? hehe

majin i was gonna buy ur s21s before. but you sold it 2 days earlier when i came up with the money hehehe :)

Meowjin 07-16-2006 09:15 PM

a 300d is a just a plain old rebel (non-xt)

Jomo 07-17-2006 03:37 PM

300D is a nice little camera, but what price is he selling it for?

snowball 07-24-2006 08:58 PM

i'm looking for a non-slr that produces low noise (or as little as possible noise) in night shots, decent size for occasional point and shoot purposes, full manual control and maybe some crappy add-on lens ability.

budget 500-750

suggestions?

Meowjin 07-24-2006 10:05 PM

s3 is.

probably your best bet, it has iso 50, a decent flash, and it has the added image stabalazion which will help for night shots.

IS does nothing for night shots, as your camea should be on a tripod.

Bonjour43MA 07-24-2006 11:10 PM

Fuji F30

super clean up to ISO800, usable ISO1600, and just-for-fun ISO 3200 on a point&shoot! lol nice!

my canon point and shoot is dying so I mght pick up one of these Fujis... they're awesome.

dub.dub 07-24-2006 11:26 PM

their xD cards aren't :p
