ok so my 2mp camera has died now. when i took pics at the club last nite, nothing showed up on the screen....so i dont know whats wrong with it....time for a new camera.

i need something thats really slim, and i guess 5mp +.
i was thinking of either sony or canon.

what do u guyz suggest???

Gopher 07-28-2006 10:54 AM

You may want to try Fuji, they've got some relatively thin cameras with nice big screens... and upto 6.1MP. I can't remember what the model name is.

have u tried uploading ur pictures?

also, a LOT of people have done this... but u can actually turn off displaying ur pics on the lcd screen if u have pushed the DISP button by accident. the button is there to save batteries and for those who just want to look through the viewfinder only

hope that helped!

Hey guys,

I'm looking to start learning about photography and wanted a decent learner's camera. I'm not looking at the DSLRs because I'm not ready to invest in all the lenses and such. I'm looking for a decent camera that is versatile and can produce a wide variety of photos. The cameras i'm looking at right now are the Canon PowerShot S3 IS and the Sony H2. Are either of these a good place to start? Any other recommendations?

Senna4ever 07-30-2006 06:34 PM

Sony R1 or H5B?

webHead 07-30-2006 06:53 PM

Thanks, I'll look into those.

Jomo 07-30-2006 07:00 PM

I dont think you could go wrong with a Powershot S3 IS if you're not looking for one of those ultra-tiny style ones.

Gopher 07-31-2006 01:08 PM

Canon S3 IS FTW

I had an S2 for a short while and though I sold it in favour of a dSLR, as a camera it worked really nicely. Everything I've read suggests the S3 is a real step up, and accordingly should be a great camera!

Meowjin 08-06-2006 11:43 AM

I also owned an s2 is. It really is an excellent camera.

Bonjour43MA 08-06-2006 11:45 AM

Nikon D50
Canon Rebel XT

and *gasp*

Sony Alpha A100

Bonjour43MA 08-06-2006 11:47 AM

acutally it depends on what you want and what you can afford... the answer is too broad, really.

they go anywhere from $670 bucks all the way up to $9,000. lol

En4cer 08-06-2006 12:15 PM

well like i'm planning on spending no more then 700-800

but then i would need to get a mem card and lenses?? is that what i need to get afterwards?

Bonjour43MA 08-06-2006 04:35 PM

yeah u have to factor in all the additional costs...

memory cards
bags
lenses
accessories

they start to add up before u even know it

$800 bucks will get you a D50 with kit lens... which I think is a good place for someone to start with before spending anything more.

En4cer 08-06-2006 05:35 PM

where is a good place to get cameras?

dub.dub 08-06-2006 05:58 PM

internet forums for used ones like this one here :p

blackvette 08-07-2006 05:31 AM

how is the T7 compared to all those others listed like fx01, sd700, DSC-W70, DSC-W100m, etc. I like slim!

How's the Minolta Dimage X1, it's like 8mp but around 200-300 bucks.
