| What is the best digital point-and-shoot camera out there?
whats the best point and shoot NON SLR camera on the market that is 6mp and up?
I have read some good things bout the Fuji fine pix F30 but the thing looks kinda hideous but thats not that much of a concern
..i got loads of SD cards that i dun wanna waste and this uses xD. I know canons use sd and are pretty respectable but i don't know which ones are good.
I m looking for a compact cam that gives out good pics ....high iso ratings...manual feats....etc...
any recommendations would be great~ thanks

Is Kyle still using the S2? I though you were giving him one of your old bodies?

What are you going to use the lens for? 28mm f1.8, 35mm f1.4 or 50mm f1.4 are available from Canon.

With a f1.4, you should be able to shoot at 1/60.

Not really....you can generally get away with slower shutter speeds with wide angles.

| sd600 questions
these are down to around $330 now and I'm hoping even less by christmas which seems pretty good.
but I'm still worried about the batterys.
how long do they last?
is there a souce for non cannon brand batterys for less? $50 or so is freaking expensive for a battery. and I'll probably need a few of them. so I can go camping for a week (no power) and not run out.
also, is the only way to charge them, to take the batterys out and put them in the charger? or does it charge through the USB port as well?
I'd much prefer to have an AA camera, but none of them are small...
what does the 730 have that the 600 doesn't? 1x more zoom, and stability. for like $150 more?
the 630 is out because it doesn't have the hole to look through. I never take pics using the screen. (I can probably turn it off and it'll save batterys right??)

sterlingtek.com is a good source for 3rd party batteries. I have several for my 20D and they last a lot longer imo. That being said, the oem canon battery for the SD800IS I have currently lasts pretty long. Can't give you an estimate since I've only had it for about a week.
Are you talking about the SD700IS? The IS on these cameras are great . I'd get the SD800IS for the wide angle, IS, and ISO 1600 (thought iso 1600 is very noisy). The digic 3 processor is also cool w/ it's face recognition and fast processing, lol. The bodies on these thing scratch and the paint rubs off so fast. In less than a week, stored in it's canon pouch, i've got rub marks around the frame of the LCD! Good thing it's not really mine .

I'm not impressed with how the new Canon SD-series camera feel. Feels a lot cheaper imo.
