so what do you think of the SX1, its price is somewhat close to a xsi and on par with entry level dslrs, but what i like is 1080p recording and zoom and normal pictures all in one...would u vouch for this camera? |
I just picked up my first dSLR today, Canon XSi w/ 18-55mm lens and also a "sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6 apo dg macro". Im looking to do alot of nighttime urban scenery shots, can anyone recommend a good lens for nighttime shots? |
Hey guys im looking to pick up a digi-cam for my mom, just one of those small pocket/purse sized ones but this is what im looking for: Lots of Megapixels (like 12mpx) Lots of Optical Zoom (at least 10x?) HD Recording (preferably with 24p but i dont think there are any) Big Screen (3" is good) Takes the best pictures for its size Good in Low Light (dsctx1h? from sony) would like but not important: Panoramic pictures feature Underwater ability Price isn't a concern, is there anything that has all of that? from what i've done in researching it seems like for all the features id like they're spread out over a bunch of different cameras :/ |

Why do you need 12MP+? 10MP is more than enough for anyone, and with small P&S cameras, you will get worse image quality because the photosites on the sensor are too small. |

What do you think of the 50mm f1.4? |

when i looked at that Panasonic and saw the Leica lens it dawned on me that my moms favourite camera was always a Leica (she still has her film ones from like when she was a lil kid) so i searched and found the Leica D-LUX 4 how do you think that stacks up to the cameras you suggested? if the price hike is just in the name i think i will go with the Panasonic you linked (but the fuji has a optional waterproof case argh!) thnx edit: oh i did some googling and find people say they're the exact same camera except the Leica has a Leica case with slightly different firmware and lens coating |
You can also get the Leica with a titanium body. It costs $1200 though. O__O |
^^^ rofl i saw that, its $995 if you get it in the states (oh nevermind thats a used one and the "new" ones are the safari edition) everyone is sold out of the leica dlux4 ;/ and the panasonic lx4 -_- unless i buy in canada for like an insane price.. |
I need a little help here. So I've been shooting with my nikon d50 for about 3-4 years now and it's time I upgraded bodies. I'm mainly shooting models/portraits. My current lens list is consists of sigma 10-20, tamron 28-75 2.8, nikkor 17-50 2.8 (pretty much sold), nikkor 50mm 1.8, and a nikkor 70-300mm. I was initially thinking about going with a d300 but then others have suggested slurging for a d700 or even jumping to the dark side and looking into a 5d or 5dmk2. With the d700/5dmk2 I'd be strapped for cash after the body purchase and be left with little to nothing for lenses. With the d300 or 5d I'd have money left over for a few pieces of nice glass like that 70-200 2.8 I've been eyeing for a while. What do you guys think? |
Go with the option that gives you nice glass. :) |
Yeah, I'd say get a new D300, as you should be able to get one at a good price, as the D300s is coming out. Keep the 17-55 f2.8! |
Looks like the canon 7D should be coming out, pretty impressive specs. some info here: http://www.canonrumors.com/ |
y is that crop body worth 2 grand again? |

Sony's looking mighty interesting, especially that 28-70 F2.8 for around $800. http://www.photographybay.com/2009/0...-f28-sam-lens/ |

I just ordered a Canon Eos Rebel XS. It's my first DSLR and what I would call 'real' camera :P I'm super excited :D Good choice? |
Hi, Canon newbie here. since my focal point FT class will begin Very Soon, i will be upgrading my camera from 'Canon Rebel xT' to either T1i or 50D. and i have follwing lenses; EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS Canon EF 50mm f1.8 any recommandations ? Thanks in advance. |
Get the 50D...the faster response times will come in handy during the sports and wedding components of the course. You will have no use for video. Oh, and make sure you have a computer (preferably a laptop) that is fast enough to handle the large file sizes so you don't waste too much time post processing. Also get an external HD to back up your files. Back-up after every shoot...don't get lazy. First class is tomorrow, isn't it? Don't worry, you won't need a DSLR for the first little while. Most assignments will be with B&W film. If you want some help in the darkroom, I'll be more than happy to help you out. |
Thank you Senna ! Yes, first class is tmr and guess i'll have a busy day today getting prepared for my first day of school ! :) Have NO idea abt films/darkrooms and such, but oh well..will learn as time goes by i guess ;;; |
What do you guys think? I have access to dealer pricing on Panasonic cameras. GF1, or LX3? This is to supplement my current 5Dmk1. |
I'd get the LX3 because of its smaller size, but the GF1 will have the better IQ. |
