what are the prices of those at AB sound? if i was u i'd spend a bit more to get at least teh FZ20, the bad thing about the olympus e300 is that its not like u can go out and get lots of used stuff for it, so ur stuck with getting everything new and unless u have a hook up it aint gonna be cheap, but i'd be interested on the prices at AB cuz a couple of my friends are looking for those cameras cheap

The E300 has a crappy viewfinder.

well i haven't even checked out the prices yet for the olympus, but I recall seeing a flyer they had that stated 15% of Olympus digi cam's. As for the FZ20 i believe it was going for like $729 last time I checked.
Well the reason I'm getting it there is they are replacing my Fuji S5000 under warranty and they are probably giving me the Panasonix FZ4. So I figured if I add a little more $$ I can get a better camera. They might even swing me a deal too cause right now they are trying to delay giving me the camera and they're trying to screw me around. So you think the FZ20 is a pretty good one eh? how much better is it, than the FZ5? other than the hotshoe?

What's a good camera to get that ranges from $400-$500? We're looking for a camera that has a good mix of everything (size, image quality, functions etc.)

Thanks

Personally if you stay with a Camera Manufacturer u cant really go wrong, ie: canon, nikon, olympus, its all a preference to features.

Right now I'm considering the Canon SD 400/500 or the S60/70/80

I was looking at a Casio slim camera but my gf said the image quality sucks on them because her aunt in HK had one and the pictures didn't turn out to good.

Hmmm....

Canon probably has the best image quality. I have the S30 and it's amazing. The S series cameras are kind of bulky if you're going to carry it around with you all the time, but you get the manual controls that the SD series do not have.

If you can, stay away from the cameras with the super slim form factor...they're very hard to hold steady.

but anyways is this a good choice? i've got 30days for exchange.

It's supposed to be a really nice camera...use it and see how good it is. I think Orgasm Donor has the same one.

That's exactly why I'm torn between a decision on whether to get the SD or S series. I'm basically trading off size for functions.

How important are the manual controls and what sort of things can you use them for? I've played around with an S series before but never had the time to fully try out the manual controls.

To me, it's important to have manual control in some situations, but honestly, I don't use it very often. Usually in low light or special effects I'll use it. I'd be perfectly happy with an SD series.

My cousin has an SD series camera, and it takes photos that are just as good as my S30.

Little help with a new camera purchase....

I already have a dslr so I'm looking for a very compact (slim) camera..something that can be carried in your pocket on a daily basis. The more attractive it looks, the better. My budget is around $400 - $800 including tax. There are just too many cameras out there and it's hard for me to decide. Any advice, personal reviews, etc, etc is appreciated.

btw, I was looking at the Canon SD300 (or better), Sony T7...and some Casio and Fuji cameras in that range.

That Sony T7 looks like a helluva little cam if all you want is a super slim, trendy point and shoot. 5.1 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, 2.5" LCD and the lens is made by Carl Zeiss. I shoot with a canon SLR and i intend to stick with canon unless something drastic changes... but I think if i was looking at one of those super slim point and shoots... i'd go for the Sony.

Ooooh i just found something even better! It's very slightly bigger (still very slim!)... yber-shotŪ DSC-N1 Digital Camera. It's 8.1 MP CCD instead of 5.1, and the LCD is 3", which is pretty HUGE for a little camera. $499 US which falls inside your budget, however Im not sure if it's in stores yet, you might have to wait.

it's probably the best Pocket camera you can get in that price range.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Well it looks like I'll be picking up the Canon SD550 from HK. I end up saving about $200.
