I highly doubt someone has used 6 D90s (sorry, USED, not owned) and they all had these glitches. Probably user error, like didn't mount the lens fully or something, or damage from something.

I googled it and there are many users who have encountered the f-- error, I would probably discount the user error from mounting the lens, we only used kit lens in our yearbook class but I think damage would've been likely, since most of the kids run around with them not really taking care of them. The thing is that it's happened to me in the middle of taking pictures of intramural games etc.
I researched it some more and I think the general consensus it is just dirty contacts.
But like I said it's nothing serious but I'm surprised it seems like you guys are surprised by this f-- error

If you think the D90 is glitchy, you should try the D7000.

i was reading on somewhere (here?) how a user recommended a d90 over the d7000 but he wouldn't say why. could he have been talking about these 'glitches'? this was before end-users/consumers could get their hands on them.

thanks so much for all your help guys | If you haven't bought it yet, just make sure you check the count yourself instead of taking the guy's word for it. A guy was trying to sell me a D700 with a claimed 4k shutter count, turned out to be 35k when I checked it out.

I just used the last URL to check my latest pic on my old D40X.
Self Timer Time 10 s
Sensor Pixel Size 6.05 x 6.05 um
Serial Number 5010445
Sharpness Auto
Shooting Mode IR Control
Shooting Mode Setting Delayed Remote
Shot Info Version 0209 Shutter Count 12,141
Timer Function Button ISO
I find I can't view the count on Canons, I tried to help a friend with a 40D but couldn't find anything. Shutter counts numbers COULD be hacked, but it takes more effort on the sellers part.

Okay I'm gonna be picking up the d90 by myself at that guys house on Saturday. Sorry for being repetative, but what specific things should I sheck for (I googled it and all it tells me is condition and accessories )
So basically
-if the camera auto focuses and takes shots
-condition, no dents and deep scratches
-what it comes with
- actuation
And what else? Thanks in advance btw Posted via RS Mobile |

so i got my d90 today. PROBLEM!!
id give it a 9/10 condition.
the guy claimed it was at 2k shutter count
the guy is really friendly too..
so i went home and check the shutter count is really at 17k.
so i phoned him and he was all chill about it.. he is willing to do a full refund as i know where he lives. he even offered to pick it up or give me a discount.
should i keep the d90 or not? i got it for 500$.
he says hes giving me a discount (money back).. how much should i take from him as "discount?" 20$? 50$?
i am satisfied with the camera but i dont know if 17k is high or not.
most people are telling me to take the discount.. thats probably what i want right now.. how much is a reasonable price to get back from him? (of course as much as possible ) but how much do you guys think?

so at 17K actuation, ur only slightly less than 2/10s there
it's really up to u to refund or keep the camera, because on one hand, u got lied to about the camera, but on the other hand, if theres nothing wrong with the camera, and u think it was a good deal, then i would suggest keeping it.
