Anyone own a fuji x100? Any comments on it? Seriously thinking of buying one for casual snapshots and street use. Sometimes, I don't want to bring my d7000 everywhere because its so big and heavy.

^ If u add 100 bucks u can probably pick up a Nikon D3000 which is extremely great for the price.
Does anyone have experience with the Nikon D7000? Pros Cons? I keep hearing the the new metering system tends to overexpose alot especially in bright sunny days..

The D7000 has the best image quality out of any of the APS-C sensor DSLR cameras on the market out there right now. No camera has a perfect metering system, BTW.

Can't really think of a con that would be a deal breaker. Has great burst speed for its price, the auto-focus is fast, awesome image quality. Really impressed with the video as well.

Alright guys I'm purchasing the Nikon D7000 hopefully tomorrow...I've been reading a lot about it and the biggest issue with this camera is all the dead pixels right of the bat. You can see them in video mode in live view with the lens cap on, seems like every single person has this problem. Does anybody else have this issue? Ill be trying out a few copies before I buy... Just my opinion, but if you can't see them in photo's (if that's the main purpose of the camera) does it really matter? If everyone has them, then its just one of those things about the camera.
Good luck with your purchase its a great camera. I don't own one or anything, i'm a Canon guy.

Posted via RS Mobile | Never ran into it. Are you talking about the dead pixels on the sensor itself or the LCD screen? If it's the former, my D60 experienced it but I didn't notice till I carefully looked at the photos after I sold it.
Edit: Sounds like you're talking about the LCD screen

Suggestions? | I just sold my T3i for a D7000 lol
As for the pixels, i was talking about the sensor it self. Seems Nikon has a factory defect which is influencing majority of D7000's. Hot pixels are very apparent even at iso 400 with a few seconds of exposure and customers keep exchanging them for new ones. Some guy went through 6 copies and they all had a major problem with dead/stuck and hot pixels. They appear on both video and still images.
Heres the thread [D7000] - Problems (Bad Pixels) « Nikon Rumors Forum and there is many more on the same problem.
Nikon even released firmware updates to solve the issue but its not working for everyone. You can do a test on all DSLRs to check for pixel issues. Lens cap on, iso 800 or higher and 15-30sec of exposure. Then check your black image for tiny colored dots...
Guess ill check and see tomorrow at BroadWay Camera.

^the original 5D has the same problem. Mine has a ton of them, doesn't really bother me unless I am doing long exposures at night. In which case it is a little annoying, but nothing I can't fix in about a minute in photoshop. I heard that the Canon software (forgot the name, I don't use it) can map out the hot pixels, and eliminate them from the raw files.

^ ive exchanged it for a second copy and it had 2 pixels showing at ISO1000 and 25 exp.. Not bad at all compared to the first copy which had 10-15. Also found out that if NR is turned ON the stuck pixels dont show up on images at all, even at extremely long exp. Plus once you throw them on in Lightroom or PS they get erased automatically lol must be magic.
Started reading more on the D7000 tho and a few more problems were brought up. Nikon Forums say that Autofocus is not nearly as sharp as manual, producing soft images and showing difficulty focusing on what you want.
Plus lots of back focusing on the lens it self. So i got all worried and tested it out for my self.
I used this chart which could be used for all DSLR to check for front/back focus issues. Nikon D70 Focus Chart
Back Focus was indeed an issue on my new 16-85 VR so AF Fine Tuning was applied at -7 and now it seems perfect! Sharpness is much better as well!
As for autofocus in general i dont see a problem that everyone keeps complaining about ( Flickr: Discussing That D7000 focus issue... in Nikon - D7000 Users) maybe the older versions were more problematic...
OVERALL, BUY THIS CAMERA! You will not regret it

Anyone know if US Nikon warranty will be honor here in Canada.
I bought a D5100 two lens kit from Costco in the States, will I have any warranty issues if any problem arises?
Thanks

Nope. The US warranty will not be honoured in Canada. In fact, Nikon Canada will not even touch it, even if you offer to pay for any repairs.

| i thought fine tune or micro adjustment was only for specific focal lengths? as soon as you change from i.e. 16mm @ -7 to 85mm it's different again.
