at first i wanted a gx1 + their PZ pancake... but it's such a mediocre lens so i constantly go back and forth and scrap the idea. the whole point of this system is portability. anything that sticks out won't do it for me. is the IQ on the ep3 that bad? i do like how it has stabilization.

I bought the ep3 a few weeks ago and I absolutely love it. I use to drag around my d90. The ep3 is the perfect size and the image quality is just as good or even better than my old d90.

T3i might be a tad more expensive but I think the tiltable screen might be worth the extra dollars.

The sensor in the GX1 is newer and better in terms of noise and image quality. EP3 is still using the original sensor that introduced m4/3 but slightly tweaked.

They're okay, but as the mic is integrated into the body, it will pick up the sounds of you handling the camera, zooming a lens or the AF motor going. It can be distracting. At the very least, get a small external mic that you can plug into the mic input. Nikon has a cool little one that is powered by the camera body. It will work with any DSLR with a mic input. I bought a Sennheiser MKE400, which has better sound quality than the Nikon one, and is slightly larger, but still quite small.

Looking to get a Panasonic GF2/GF3 for beginners...

Any recommandation on which lens kit to purchase?
Or others?

Boostslut 07-09-2012 11:11 PM

Is the 5D MKIII alot better than the 1D MKIV? Overall camera. I do nature, sports, landscapes. I like awesome auto focus, wicked higher'ish ISO, and image quality.

SkinnyPupp 07-09-2012 11:17 PM

How about non-DSLRs that can do 1080p? Anything cheaper? Or would it be better to just use a body since I already have the lenses...

I would take the 5DmkIII over the 1DmkIV for image quality, but the extra 1.3x crop is nice.

SkinnyPupp 07-15-2012 11:52 PM

So I found a camera that shoots 1080p 60 fps, and pretty good quality. But I am having a tough time selling my Canon 10-22. The price is pretty good I think, but no interest. Is it not a popular lens anymore?

yray 07-16-2012 12:25 AM

^ have you head over to simcity in MK? See how much they would offer you for the lens?

SkinnyPupp 07-16-2012 02:08 AM

Haven't yet, going through the regular methods first. Their prices probably aren't that great but we'll see

lilaznviper 07-18-2012 12:14 PM

planning to pull the trigger on a 5dmarkII to replace my ago old Xsi i got years ago. bccamera has it for $2799 including a 24-105mm IS lens
Is this a good price for the camera?

Senna4ever 07-18-2012 12:20 PM

^^^ That's a good price - that looks like they've included the rebate in the price.

lilaznviper 07-18-2012 01:50 PM

thanks senna. I'm also looking for a smaller digital camera to take with me on some occasions
Canon powershot A4000 IS or Canon 16.1MP Elph 110

both about the same price. Can anyone give me some insite on the differences except for the zoom 8x vs 5x

Is the processor better in the Elph 110 DIGIC 5 vs DIGIC 4 or will i not even notice the difference

Canon Eos 450D vs Sony A390L

I know they're both old, intro dSLR's but I'm just looking for something I can just throw in my car for spur of the moment shots. I already have a decent(ish) dSLR in the form of my primary video camera (Sony NEX-VG) for when I'm on the field. I'm not interested in using any of my current E- or A-mount lenses from said camera with the A390 if I went that route, so I'd just be sticking with the lens out of the kit.

Considering I can pick either one up in a bundle kit for under $200 brand new, I'm not overly concerned with build quality. I'm just curious which one performs better. None of the reviews I've read online for either camera were much help when it came to how fast RAW pictures processed after each shot, etc.

pulled the trigger and got the 5DMarkII today. So much bigger than the rebel xsi I was using

^Nice! It's always the tough part jumping the gun and shelling out the dough.

My D80 was recently stolen, so I'll be picking up a D7000 body soon.

Debating on the 18-55 or just springing for the kit and getting the 18-105. I'd love to grab a 18-200, but it's out of my budget at the moment.

Any thoughts?

I Picked up an NEX7

Now to find a Nikon G to Sony NEX E mount.

And Hotshoe adapter

grab a 2nd hand copy of 18-200 for its very useful all purposeness.
or grab a 2nd hand 16-85 for its somewhat wide angle capability and stunning image quality but lack of telephoto end.
its a tendency of wanting to have coverage on all focal length, but at the end you will only be shooting in a certain focal range. If you plan to have a one lens solution, than definately 18-200 is your best bet. Its not bad, but its just that there are better combinations out there that can outdo this lens anyday, but having to change lens constantly is just a pain in the butt.
