I looking to purchase a Canon 6D body and was wondering if anyone has seen one for a decent price. I'm looking for new unit and don't mind driving out to purchase one.

Thnx in advance.

Hey guys,

I am picking up a used 7D with battery grip for $830 tonight. It's shutter count is said to be 8k. He uses it for both video and pictures. He's had it since September...

Is this a good deal and what should I look out for?

Cheers,

Dang.

It's about the going rate for a used 7D body. It seems a bit cheap for both body and grip (if it's OEM). If you have a laptop, you can always bring it and try to get the shutter count for yourself.

Canon EOS 7D Shutter Count - Canon Digital Photography Forums

Bring a lens and CF card, ask the person to charge the batteries so you can use the camera and the grip. Shoot, try the other modes, shoot some more. You can also check the battery health in the menus.

If all is well, then I'd say you're getting a pretty good deal.

$830 is a good price, if it's in good shape. I sold mine for $900 not too long ago (camera and grip).

Still might be in good condition, just used actively. I had about the same amount of clicks on my 7D when I sold it, solid camera!

Does anyone know if video affects the shutter count? If so that might be why the count is so high. I would think it's 1 shutter count for every instance that video is called upon and ended.

But not sure how the guy got 8000 lol. The shutter is rated to 150k I believe, so if you are still deciding, 29k is still a young camera.

^ There is suppose to be a way to check the number of live views used or something..but it doesn't affect the clicks from my knowledge. I ended up buying it. Gotta get CF cards now.. waiting on boxing day sales!

Usually London Drugs has the best local prices on fast CF on Boxing Day. That's where I got mine from a few years back (which I'm selling for cheap btw lol)

Looking to upgrade to a Canon FF camera (I used to have a D600 but switched to Canon) currently using a T3i.

I'm currently trying to decide whether or not it would be worth it to save the extra for the 5D Mk 3. I'm kind of leaning towards a used 5D Mk 2 or a new 6D.

In terms of IQ, the 6D is actually the best one out of the three by a noticeable margin. A little surprising (at least to me), but that's what it is.

IMO, given how cheap and how good the IQ is with the 6D, the 5D2 is not a good buy at all anymore unless it can be had for really cheap -- like sub-$1k cheap.

The biggest draw the 5D3 has over the 6D is the vastly superior AF. If you need that kind of performance, you have to go with the 5D3. If you can live with just using the single center point AF (ie. you're the point-focus-recompose kind of shooter), you'd be stupid to not just go for the 6D and pocket the $1300 difference.

If you're on the fence, you have to ask yourself whether the 5D3's vastly superior AF is worth the extra $1300.

There are other little things to consider (feature set, weight, handling, etc.), but I would say these should not be your deciding factors.

Plus the 6D has GPS which I dig and the smaller size and weight is nice too. I am super happy with mine EXCEPT for the one time I tried to take some sports photos at Whistler, which I was a little less than stoked with the autofocus performance, even with a nice L tele. But for 99.9% of the time, I'd rather have my 6D than a 5D MKII and definitely would rather save the $1500 difference between a 6D and 5D MKIII.

Pretty much a newbie here.

Looking to buy a new camera to take fast action shots.

here are some requirements:

1- Must be compact (and preferably with a retractable lens)
2- Light-weight is preferable but not required
3- Of course, has to take great pictures
4- Must be easy to use as in... selecting the mode, and pressing the shutter-release
5- Budget is $100 to $800
6- 18 MP or higher
7- Optical zoom of 30x or higher preferred

two of my friends use the Sony Nex 5R or 5T and I tested them and they take great pictures with ease.

But, I believe they were only 16 MP...

Your help and recommendations are much appreciated.

Thank you.

I'm a newbie.

I love large poster-size pictures.

Would 16MP be enough?

The only difference in the 5t over the 5r is NFC and the inclusion of the power zoom. The power zoom I've heard has really bad distortion. Its fixed in camera when shooting in jpg mode so unless you're really dying to have power zoom I'd aim for the 5r.
