Just out of curiosity, why the X-T1 over the X-E2?

Bigger viewfinder with dual view, which I think is very useful with manual glass. I plan to use a lot of old manual lenses with it.

Also slightly improved autofocus and much better EVF performance in low light. And weather sealing. I mean, not that I go shoot in the rain a ton but this is Vancouver and it's nice to not have to think about it. I never think about rain on my 5D3. That seemed worth the $250-300 price difference.

i've been taking my new little pocket camera everywhere. its awesome to have a decent quality picture machine at all times. so small and powerful, amazing.

There's a couple on CL, one of which bundled with what's likely the best glass atm (23/56). It's a pretty good deal if it's still available.

The EVF almost sold me on the X-T1. My main priority was size, so given the fact that the innads of both cameras are almost identical at the time of purchase, I went with size and the fact that the X-E2 was bundled with the kit for less than the X-T1 body.

I somewhat regret that decision now given the newest firmware update for the X-T1. It's almost like a new camera.

For me, the entire value proposition of the Fuji over my much loved 6D is physical size and weight. While the EVF of the X-T1 is better than my X-E2, I am keeping my Canon for "serious" shooting. For me, the size is everything, I should have thought about an X-A2 but the opportunity came for the X-E2 so will have to be stoked on that path.

I'm still considering the X-E2 because of the lower price...and I think it looks hella good too. I held both of them and the X-T1 doesn't seem that much bigger than the X-E2 so that wasn't really a factor. My feeling was that the X-T1 feels more solid. I like things that feel heavier than they look. I consider that a mark of quality.

It's a tough call but I don't think you can go wrong either way.

Debating between 2 canon bodies. 70d vs t6s. Mainly want to do videos. Using a t5i at the moment.

given both have similar sensors (in terms of tech/af/dynamic range), it'll probably come down to handling/ergonomics. Personally, I'd go 70D since it's chunkier and easier for me to hold. If you weight is an issue, you might want to go Rebel.

Note though- if you're investing in quality L glass, they almost always feel front heavy on a Rebel. Food for thought.

Maybe do some searching to see if the 70D has magic lantern? That might be a huge selling feature if you're mostly doing video.

What sort of video are you looking to make?

Then you don't want a DSLR. You want a high quality camcorder-style camera with a somewhat wide angle lens with image stabilization that's small and light enough to hold easily in one hand. You also want a flippy-tilty screen.

Any thoughts on when 70d replacement will be out?

Year or two, I'd say. 5D4 should be next up by the end of the year or early next year and then we'll see a new 80D or a 6D2.

What are you looking for in terms of improvements? Canon isn't exactly known for coming out with a whole bunch of new features, especially in the lower segments. They already improved video AF ahead of most DSLR options, and unless they move to another supplier, don't expect too much in terms of new sensor tech.

The way I look at it is if you need the camera now, buy now and if you really want to upgrade when the 80D comes out, just sell your 70D and upgrade. At least you'll have 1-2 years of use out of it if you bought sooner rather than waiting. Bodies depreciate like crazy anyways, so if you want to mitigate that you can find a used 70D.

Yeah, I would never wait that long for something new to come out because that's time that could be spent doing things rather than sitting on your cash. The next big thing is always around the corner. When that time comes, sell your gear and buy new gear.

I bought a 5D Mark III basically the day it came out. It was like $3299 plus tax at the time. I regret nothing. It's currently like $2300...but I've probably gotten plenty of work because of it to pay for it a few times over. Even if I didn't make any money, I still would've gotten $1000 worth of enjoyment from it.

Trying to find out where I can purchase a high end video camera for tomorrow? I have a Canon XA20 and would like to find a source to buy new or used locally today. It can be an XA10, XA20, and XA25....maybe even one of the later prosumer models like HF-G30. If any video heads know of source for today that would be great!

Been shooting with a Panasonic GF2 for the past few months, and I am thinking it is time to upgrade. Would like to stick with Micro Four Thirds as I have already invested in some lenses. Currently looking at two Olympus O-MD models the EM-10 or EM-5. Any thoughts on these two or recommendations for other MFT cameras.

Hey guys. I'm debating between the sony a5000 and the a5100. Is the a5100 worth the additional $200? Atm I'm leaning more towards the a5000 because of tight budgets. Thanks!

If you care about AF performance- the a5100 shares the same sensor as the a6000, meaning you'll have much faster AF performance compared to the a5000 (a5100 has phase detect pixels). The differences between the two cameras is quite large. The a5100 is essentially an a6000 minus the EVF.

X-E2 for $600 or X-T1 for $1000? Brand new, body only with my discount. ARRGGGG...WHY CAN'T I CHOOSE!?

If I were to go do it again knowing what I know now, I'd probably go for the XT1. With the new fw update, it's essentially a whole new camera. I would love to have AF-point metering and the electronic shutter in my XE2. It doesn't make sense because they are almost identical in terms of guts.

That said, I'm super happy with my XE2 as those features are "nice to haves" in my book. IQ between the two is identical, so going with the XE2 would get you $400 closer towards some great glass.

might as well buy a used NEX-3/5/6 if you're going for the 5000
