Want To Find The Cheapest Flights Possible?

Hey folks,

I do a lot of travelling myself (not trying to brag ) and learned over the years that searching on Expedia or Travelocity isn't always the best choice in finding fares and being able to compare them. Their prices aren't always the greatest so I've found some sites that will definately help you find the cheapest flight available for the time you want to travel.

First and foremost, your best bet is your preferred airline carrier's website. Whether it's Alaska Airlines, Cathay Pacific, British Airways, or Air Canada, always check with the carrier's website first.

My second weapon of choice when it comes to cheap flights is Orbitz.com. Orbitz is an American-based website that scrounges through various airline carriers and hunts for deals seperately in order to find you the cheapest fare possible. Sometimes, their fares actually beat the carrier's prices because they may mix and match different airline carriers to get you to where you want to go for the lowest price. I booked a flight from SFO to FRA for only $400! Take that, Lufthansa!

My most favourite website is ITA. Similar to Orbitz, but their fares are sometimes better however, they provide way more flexibile search functions. This, by far, has saved me a tonne of money compared to say, Expedia or Travelocity.

I am, by no means, an expert nor professional traveller. I simply like to travel and like to share my personal best-bang-for-the-buck findings. Happy travels!

I just recently found that the best option pricewise is www.kayak.com. It doesn't have the user reviews, guides, etc. that Expedia has, but is an aggregator that searches many, many sites (including multiple carrier websites).

It doesn't resell fares; it simply displays links to results, so there's no additional markup. Their revenue is generated from site ads.

1. Read vancouver Sun Travel section every Saturday

2. Agree about the main sites of the airlines. check it first because they always have the deals.

3. http://www.lowfares.com/ -----> it is not a site where you can buy tickets... but the main purpose of this site is to compare the prices of the expedia, orbitz, kayak, etcetera.... SO IT IS A BIG HELP TO SAVE YOU TIME

4. if you are not picky about specific date(like losing or gaining one day or 2 days of your preferred flight dates)... I love AIRCANADA.COM and TRAVELOCITY.... trust me manh... you can always find really, really good deals... like i know that regular price for NZ right now is 2000+ but travelocity can give it to you for half of the price... jsut look at the deals...as long as you do not mind losing one day or 2 days like i said....

Good info.

I find that official airline sites have hidden and last minute deals which aren't advertised on expedia or other travel sites.

That's nothing.

I just went to Europe for $320 taxes in on UA and Lufthansa.

Well, it's no longer a secret - I posted up the sites in my first post but the secret is being flexible in where you fly out of.

I managed to score the flight last minute for that price because it flies out of SFO. I have an Air Canada flight pass which took me from YVR to SFO and from SFO to FRA on UA metal and FRA to SFO on Lufthansa metal.

Answer to the off topic question: the newer Japan pics were from a Canon 30D with the 17-85 kit lens. The older pics (Europe, Tokyo) were from a cheap Nikon S4.
