Yup, that is my go-to place for regular Pho. Their bun bo hue is sub par, but their pho is awesome and the spring rolls are decent.

My friends and I call it "Boat pho" coz of the decor inside.

haha that place used to be a really small family run restaurant with excellent "bo jai faan" (rice in those little ceramic pots)... it was REALLY GOOD, too bad it never caught on and they closed... but yeah it was called "relax" or something and their main decor was anything nautical

bringing a thread back from the dead.....

A friend of mine is coming to visit and my main pho place (Pho Thuan An) was under renovations and new management last time I went to go there.....where is a good place to go in the Burnaby/Vancouver area? Nervous to see what the new managers do to the food....:\

Is Song Huong still good? Seems lots of people like it here....

Santofu 01-01-2011 06:38 PM

^ Song Huong is probably the best for BUN BO HUE.
But the two restaurants i always go is Song Huong and Thai Hoa on Kingsway and King Edward? It's across from Famous Foods

Pho Tam

Across the street from Surrey Central Skytrain and next to the Safeway. Sketchy area, limited parking, but damn good pho ;)

This. The parking sucks and sometimes you have to park at Safeway parking lot and there is a fee.

Anyone try either Red Pagoda (vancouver) or Thai Son Restraunt (richmond)? Seem to be highly rated on yelp....

Santofu 01-03-2011 11:32 AM

I never tried either of those restaurants. But I tried two locations of Thai Son. Broadway, Kinda decent, I can taste some msg in it.
1st Ave & Renfrew, It's alright i guess... Better than Pho Hoa.

unit 01-03-2011 11:37 AM

Thai son is alright, but nothing special imo

Thai Son's bun bo hue is way too salty/msg'y.

I read a few foodie blog reviews on Pho Queen in the same mall as Pho Tai Hoa (boat pho), but I tried it once and it was terrible. Noodles were thin and mushy, the broth tasted mainly of MSG and the meat was mediocre.

Oscar_Binswood 01-03-2011 12:25 PM

pho tam ftw! For those concerned about parking, just park in the Safeway parking lot. If you present the receipt portion, pho tam will reimburse you.

any fans of pho lan in richmond across from richmond city hall?

one of my favourites, awesome spring rolls as well

sonick 01-04-2011 12:20 PM

Went there once, pho was ok but too expensive for the size if I remember right.

Meowjin 01-04-2011 12:29 PM

i like the bun bo hue that I had from le petit saigon

http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-..._5723739_n.jpg

right next to the starbucks on hastings and renfrew.

It's not spicy enough though :x

but no wonder why the foods better, the family's from calgary.
