Tried Hoi An in the weekends as well. Have to admit it was pretty good. Had the Bun Bo Hue and loved the soup since it wasn't overly fatty/oily, ingredients were fresh too.

One question, in the plate of bean sprouts, lime and basil, what were the other curly stuff? Don't think I've seen them in other pho places before.

JAYWALKER 06-27-2011 11:38 AM

In Surrey working right now, wondering where is a good pho place! Will be heading for lunch in an hour. Thx!

I believe what you're referring to are banana blossoms. Hoi An is the only restaurant I know of which serves it.

Had lunch with my co-worker today. Small pho dac biet! :D

+1

Kim Phung also has them. I'm seeing more and more Vietnamese restaurants include these.

:lol

She then gave me a side of sliced pepper and told me to put it all in. I obliged. Holy hell was it awesome. Although a seed was stuck in my throat and I was coughing like I had sars.

Good times.

Next time you should bring your gf=)

k2_alpha 06-28-2011 12:20 AM

Went with the gf last night for dinner.
Agreed that the service was great.
Tea was always filled and we were treated with smiles every time.

The food was good but nothing special. Definitely has the "home cooking" feel
The noodles however, felt powdery.

How is Triple Coconut Tree Restaurant's pho on Hastings compare to some of these other pho joints? Anyone have any experience?

bcrdukes 06-28-2011 12:50 AM

They used to be on E.22nd and Rupert (where E-Tea is now aka Larry Chu's hood.)

They were terrible.

RangeRoverTurbo 06-28-2011 12:51 AM

Who's Larry Chu?
