So we have been waiting for this litter for almost a year...
We got to take him home tonite... 8 1/2 weeks old. I'll take pictures with a REAL camera when i swing by my parents house.
His name is Titan (name picked long time ago), He is a Tibetan Mastiff and he's gonna be FREAKIN HUGE!!! His coat looks to be one of those brown/grey mastiffs...
Sis holding him
Another angle, still camera shy...
Must take bath hence the sad face... |

A childhood friend of mine had a mastiff... they are very loyal dogs.
I remember his cousin brought his rottweiler to my friend's house. The rottweiler was barking at my friend and his mastiff stepped in to protect him :P

I remember his cousin brought his rottweiler to my friend's house. The rottweiler was barking at my friend and his mastiff stepped in to protect him :P | well, our main concern was that after doing some research on this breed, they are not only very loyal, but so protective that they may be agressive to unknown ppl.
after meeting the mom and dad of titan, we are pretty sure he's gonna be pretty friendly. his dad walked up to me, sniffed around, and wanted me to shake his paw, soon after got down rolled over and was the biggest baby i have every seen. mom was busy looking after the litter of 14 (yeah, big litter) but still had time to greet.
apparently, he was the first we picked from the litter, but was also the first to be born. the litter of 14 had 11 survivors. 3 pups didnt make it =/

he's got huge hind legs! he also stands strange, but apparently its normal for this breed. the best word to describe it is Staughtful. its almost like he stands there trying to flex his arms. my only concern is the possibility of hip displacia. Hemingway (my belgium terveran of 14 years) passed away last christmas, and the last couple years of his life he really showed signs of this. But for now, titan's going on puppy food for large breeds w/ a mixture of adult food to keep his growth from getting out of hand too fast (bones grow faster than muscles = development of hip displacia) gonna mix in raw meats to build up his muscles and regular milk cuz well he cant get enough of it... http://www.europuppyusa.com/puppy-do...f_puppies.html
To tell u the truth, he doesnt look much like his dad or mom. they both are black almost navy blue coated. Titan... well he's black n grey...

puppies change coat color alot while growing a dog who is born brown can end up closer to a black color. Although colors can always pop up from great grandparents. Very beautiful looking puppy. Good for you on controlling his growth. I love the breed for there happy go lucky attitude them and the mastiffs are loyal but also love all people usually. They are the biggest babies. They will however usually become protective of children if they ever feel like the kids are in danger. Just like the Terv they will also somewhat try to herd younger children, so nip it in the bud a.s.a.p.
Please post pics of him while he's growing up. Love the name.

im not too concerned. hemingway, my beloved previous dog that passed away, herded is to and from the house to the garage all the time...
as for a raw food diet, i still got a lot of info when i tried it on hemingway, he slimmed down a lot, but the main purpose is to build up Titan's muscles so they would grow as fast as his bones to avoid the whole hip displacia issue.

The funny part is you know how much (food) goes in and how much comes out.
And they can still put on 10 lbs a month

ok so week 1 with us, (his 9th week of this world)
Each one of these tiles is roughly 8ins
Vet check up went great. doc says he is in perfect health, and even said he's gonna be a huge monster too! Puppy training has been going slow, but i hate to compare him to our last dog. Hemingway was smart... Titan... not so...
Happy dog!
I'll keep updating this thread too...

How fast time flies and how quick they grow.
He is looking great. Have to laugh about the training thing. You can't compare a mastiff type breed to a herding breed when it comes to training. Keep up the puppy training. (and remember when your ready to bang your head against the wall that this is just a test and soon will be over )

he lacks... co ordination... far too many times he's running at full speed only to tumble cuz he cant stop...
anyhow, so i get up at night to go grab something to drink, i walk by the bathroom to check on him...
this is what i see
funny dog...
he's learned how to climb up stairs... now the scary part, going down stairs..
next would be the outside stairs where he sees only wooden planks...

he is gonna be such a monster when he grows up. I love the tibetian mastiffs. I'm gonna dig up some picture i took in china of real first and second generation tibetan mastiff imported from Tibet (the ones that will kill to guard their master, no very good as pet) they are beautiful! and also very expensive....
