The Conjuring

8/10

Well paced horror film. Some good jumper moments that had people screaming during the screener :lol

bchizzle 07-18-2013 06:59 PM

The Imposter.

Docudrama about a kid who went missing and was found again, but he was actually an imposter. Who said documentary films can't be as poignant as fictional films.

8.5/10

I saw this movie, and I did not know what I was in for. I felt you had to be prepared for what this movie was about. I will not call it down or give a rating.

The Hobbit - 6/10

Things I liked:

-Character design. All the monsters and dwarves looked interesting and each was pretty unique
-Scenery. Once again he shot NZ to look amazing. Although we've seen quite a bit of it before
-Gollum. They really improved his CGI and his scene was interesting
-Bilbo. Very well acted by whoever that was

Things I didn't like

-With the exception of Gollum, much of the CGI looked pretty cheap and fake, especially when things were moving. It looks like a cartoon a lot of the time
-While I appreciate the sharpness of the movie, it actually made it look even more phony.. Set pieces looked cheezy, and the bad CGI stood out more. Maybe this was done on purpose, I dunno
-Some of the animation was pretty bad. Things didn't move the way they would in real life, with real physics. Again with the sharpness, this constantly stood out to me
-3D scenes straight from 90's amusement rides. Woo look at that shit flying straight at us! It looks like a goofy cartoon though
-Not much happened... Go here, do this, narrowly escape. Repeat, end of movie

^^^ Martin Freeman (played Bilbo)

love the stuff he's been in

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (especially)
and if you've seen the BBC's Sherlock series he plays Watson and if you haven't watched it WATCH IT, netflix it, dl it Benedict Cummberbach is in it with him as Sherlock (he's also in the Hobbit)
and if you've seen the UKs "the office" (what the american one is based on) he's also good in it

he's more of a british television star
he's also had bit roles in all the Cornetto films thus far and a more prominent one in the new one (shaun of the dead, hot fuzz, the world's end)

Yup haven't seen any of those shows.. but everyone keeps saying I HAVE to watch Sherlock so I guess I should :)

StylinRed 07-23-2013 02:08 AM

yeah its great

I kept hearing the same about the show but put it off till end of last year-ish and got hooked after the first ep (each ep is long so there's only 3 eps a season)

kind of wish i put it off even longer since the new season isn't going to start til the end of this year or the beginning of next

SkinnyPupp 07-23-2013 02:11 AM

Oh shit it's the guy from Top Gear the other week! God he looks strange...

AzNightmare 07-23-2013 11:13 AM

Dispiciable Me 2
6/10.

Story was too bland. Not a fan of the minions,
so when they pretty much took over the entire movie now, 6/10 is a stretch.
They should just make a Minions spin-off.

(cannot wait until the hype is over)
