desolation of smmmaaaaug

8/10

I dont read the book but apparently they added a lot of filler content
I enjoyed the movie but as far as storyline progression goes, this is the middle filling
hate walking out the theatre knowing you have to wait another year

EndLeSS8 12-24-2013 06:18 AM

Gravity 8/10
If they didn't add Deus Ex Machina to it, the movie could have been 9.5/10

Oblivion
6/10

Crash (from 2006, rewatched it again)
9.5/10

Cloud Atlas
5.5/10

punkwax 12-24-2013 06:56 AM

2 Guns - 8.5/10

Cool action movie. Funny parts, very few shitty scenes. Great watch.

MarkyMark 12-24-2013 07:14 AM

The Purge - 2/10

What a shitty ass movie.

I dunno, I really liked it a lot.
Like, having a Purge is a stupid idea, it's far too costly, but the overall flow of the movie was good, IMO.

I personally rate it 7/10
I liked the tension

dat_steve 12-24-2013 02:19 PM

prisoners 8/10

solid movie, a bit too long though. emotions were toyed with.

Really? The whole idea seemed cool, but without giving away any spoilers, I think not a whole lot happened and when it finally did it was kind of "meh".

Spoiler!

hobbit 2, i have never watched any lord of the rings / hobbit movies in my life! I found this one okay.....felt longer than 2h40m, ppl kept checking their phones. gotta watch the third now because the ending is the biggest cliffhanger ever

7/10

rocksforsale 12-25-2013 01:01 AM

drive - 8/10
caught it on netflix, and thought it was a decent movie. Not favorite list material but it had good acting, plot, and picture.

300 - 9.5/10
this is favourite list material. it was embarrassing to admit I never watched this movie, and with the second movie (rise of an empire) coming out soon, I decided I had to watch 300. I'm really into greek history and thought this was the coolest movie.
side note: if you've ever wanted to see cersei's tits (from g.o.t), you can see em here

Silent Witness (mandarin movie) - 9/10
top ratings with good cast (sun honglei and aaron kwok) so i had to watch it
strongly recommended, even for people that don't understand the language (i watched it with subtitles to help)
It has a complex plot and it plays out the same scene from 3 different perspectives which I found really cool
although it was exceptional in all aspects, plot and directing was probably what made it stand out

mako 12-25-2013 11:18 AM

Gangster Squad
Kinda silly
6/10

she's nude in at least one of her older films too back when she was in her 20s :D

Riddick 5/10 wasn't bad wasn't good

The Impossible 7/10 it was on my watchlist for a long time, never got around to it

Kick Ass 2 4/10 wow what happened to #2? dropped off a cliff compared to #1

Snitch 5/10 the rock is a snitch, sets some people up to help his kid

To Rome with Love 6/10 it was good but i was hoping for much better considering Woody Allen and Benigni were involved

The Family 4/10 meh which sums up all of Pacinos / DeNiros films lately

Not really racist! 12-25-2013 04:44 PM

prisoners 9/10

I think I have said this before, but I honestly think you and I have literally the opposite taste in movies... Not that there's anything wrong with that, I just find it interesting. So now I know if you love a movie, I'll hate it. And vice versa. And if you are 'meh' on one, I usually am too. :fuckthatshit:

white rocket 12-25-2013 11:33 PM

Prisoners 8.5/10 - a dark emotional stir. acting was solid and convincing.

2 Guns 8/10 - liked the plot. decent chemistry and acting.

Wolf of Wall Street is worth watching..don't bring the kids though.

8.5/10

RiceIntegraRS 12-26-2013 05:38 PM

lol just saw it too. definately dont wanna bring your kids to this movie. leo better win an oscar after this performance.

8/10 verrrrrrry long movie but worth it

strykn 12-26-2013 08:28 PM

wolf of wall street 8.5 / 10

have a sudden urge for hookers & blow ... possibly even a lemon

Wongtouski 12-26-2013 08:53 PM

^ We're not getting this movie until fucking Feb in HK...... So I watched

Walter Mitty 5/10

The day dreaming bits just seemed pointless, I know Mitty is supposed to day dream a lot but it just didn't feel right. I also expected to see more of the world he traveled to but he really just went to like 4 places, the trailer made you think he went everywhere and his mission had more of a purpose.

meme405 12-26-2013 10:02 PM

wolf of wall street here too.

8.5/10. Epic movie. Hookers and Blow for all.

Also saw desolation of smaug. I am a huge fan of LOTR and the books, but I went in without having seen the first hobbit movie. Needless to say it was still a good movie. 7/10

Hobbit movies are losing some points from me because I do not believe it was necessary to split the book into 3 movies. 2 was more than enough, or one 3 hour movie could have been done.

Leo has always been close for oscar but somehow he always stays the same and doesn't really do much for hte reviewing board and never wins.

i am a big fan of his but u have to agree he hasn't had a major breakthru for years.

He was fantastic in Django Unchained last year.
Oscar just overlook him because of those N" words.

The Butler

8.5/10

A different perspective on civil rights, from slavery to present day. I enjoyed it but can see how many could find it boring.

nabs 12-27-2013 01:22 AM

Craigslist Joe (Documentary)

10/10

If this story is real, and non scripted, truly inspiring. There is so much good in the world, we just have to look for it through all the shit.

The Family - 5/10

pinn3r 12-27-2013 01:34 AM

hobbit 2 desolation of smaug 8/10

epic as fuccccc
never watched the first hobbit & the LotR series, and frankly, never cared for it; but this one got me hooked
