glad I wasn't the only one.
I figured they were missing. didn't care enough to actually try and fix it.

OGCStrike 02-14-2014 04:33 PM

rush 10/10. dem f1 engines of the 1970s :sweetjesus:

TRU3R3LIGI0N 02-14-2014 06:02 PM

Jack Ryan 9/10

Hot Karl 02-14-2014 06:19 PM

Robocop 7/10
needed way more action. but had a scene that recalls the gritty feel of the original. decent remake, but the original is like 9/10

rsx 02-14-2014 06:39 PM

wtf didn't there was subs lol.

i thought that was part of the movie being confused and what not HAHA. I didn't mind it.

SkinnyPupp 02-14-2014 06:43 PM

Seriously you guys missed out on such an important part of the movie... Has piracy made people so complacent, that they don't even need to be able to understand half a movie?

How much is it to rent a movie these days in Canada? Does something like vbox exist there? Rental kiosks where a blu-ray is like $3 hkd to rent

rsx 02-14-2014 06:45 PM

yup pretty much that's the word. plus, i read the stories before watching the movie and it seems like the captain was kind of an asshole anyway so wasn't super into it.

The only 'issue' with him that I could find is that he was warned not to sail too close to shore... He was within 200 miles, but was told to stay at least 600 miles

I don't think that makes him an asshole... just kind of negligent

Plus it's a movie based on a person, it doesn't have to be 100% accurate

August: Osage County
holy fuck the acting was so good with Meryl Streep. Julia wasn't so bad. there's so much tension and a gong show that it was crazy to swallow.

so much estrogen in the movie..... 8/10

This is just what the crew members suing have been saying:

Crew advises not to sail too close to coast due to numerous attacks
Over 3 week period 16 attacks happened
Captain received 7 email warnings of pirate attacks around the region
Continued to sail within 200 miles off the coast
Crew charts all attacks and presents to Captain - they were ignored
During first contact, the Captain refused to discontinue a fire drill, as they should all be in their pirate stations

Seems asshole-ish too me, endangering the lives of the crew.

But then again, we have to take everything with a grain of salt.

sidenote: crew is suing

Lego Movie: 9/10. Better than I expected

New World (Kor) - 8/10 - Pretty awesome Korean gangster flick with an undercover cop who made it high in the ranks of a crime syndicate after years of being a mole. Basically, shit goes crazy when the head of the organization suddenly dies and when the undercover cop wants out, is told by his superiors in the police force to stay go in even deeper into the organization.

twitchyzero 02-15-2014 12:04 AM

enough said 7/10
RIP gandolfini...was ironic they kept making fun of his weight the whole movie :(

Purely 02-15-2014 12:12 AM

Watching Captain Philips with no subtitles... is literally missing half of the movie lol

Euro7r 02-15-2014 10:57 PM

Robocop 7/10. First one still my favorite.

Gerbs 02-16-2014 12:28 AM

Lego movie

Did not expect it to be good.

StylinRed 02-16-2014 03:12 AM

american hustle 6/10 (+1 for amy adams' boobs)

the counselor 4.5/10 tried too hard and failed miserably imo

SkinnyPupp 02-16-2014 03:52 AM

Thor 2: 6/10

watchable

sonick 02-16-2014 10:28 AM

Lego movie: 8/10

Had high expectations seeing the RottenTomatoes rating, but thought it was just a solid fun movie. It's not 99% good, but I understand how it is universally enjoyed. Though I liked Wreck it Ralph more.

LEGO movie: 9/10

First time bringing my 5.75 yr old to a theatre - he loved it (or was it the popcorn?)

I really enjoyed it, it was better than I expected. This is one of the rare cases of Hollywood making a movie based on one of our beloved toys, and not ruining it (unlike Transformers, GI Joe, etc.).

As an Adult Fan of LEGO, I felt the jabs directed at us, and I am guilty as charged. :okay:

Spoiler!

Oldboy 7/10 pretty messed up.. apparently the original Korean version is a lot better.

Liberal Arts 8/10

GLOW 02-16-2014 03:52 PM

It's a shame you watched the English version first. The surprised is ruined and will skew your opinion of the Korean version.
