Fury
7/10

Fury 7/10

It just seemed kind of like a "pointless" movie but the characters were interesting and the WW2 action was good to watch.

Left Behind 1/10

Nicholas Cage out did himself, his worst movie ever IMO and that's saying something.

Damn, and I thought the Wicker Man was untouchable

knight604 10-31-2014 02:04 PM

Yeah , do not watch movies with NC ....

broken_arrow 10-31-2014 07:38 PM

The Judge - 8/10

Dracula Untold - 7/10

SkinnyPupp 10-31-2014 10:45 PM

Are you guys kidding? I'll watch movies specifically because Nick Cage is in them. Yes there are some bad ones, but quite often he can make a bad movie watchable. Not always of course, but often enough!

quasi 10-31-2014 11:16 PM

^^

He's hit or miss for me I like a bunch of his movies but he has more then his fair share of duds. The movie I rated above is just a terrible movie period, it wouldn't matter who was in it but I don't remember seeing him in a movie worse then this. Please don't take my word for it you should watch it. :)

SkinnyPupp 10-31-2014 11:19 PM

Believe me I know he has been in some absolutely unwatchable movies! I was just disagreeing with the statement that Nicolas Cage movies should be ignored by default. If anything the opposite is true most of the time, IMO

The Intouchables: 9.5/10

3klipze 11-01-2014 08:42 PM

Gone girl 8.5/10

1 word.. WOW. Recommended!
PS. Guy beside me didn't want any of my popcorn. I was being nice to share my popcorn!

Spoiler!

Expendable 3 5.5/10

Watched it for some action. Wasn't very impressed with it.

John Wick 8/10

A good throwback to the old school action genre but modern day. Grab some popcorn, check your brain at the door and enjoy some shoot 'em up action.

underscore 11-03-2014 01:24 PM

22 Jump Street, 8/10. Worth watching for Channing Tatum being hilarious if nothing else.

EndLeSS8 11-05-2014 09:59 AM

Kung Fu Jungle

7/10

Good action, decent plot. Would rate higher but The RAID has spoiled me when it comes to martial arts action movies

SkinnyPupp 11-05-2014 04:27 PM

John Wick 8/10

I'm a sucker for revenge movies, so I actually really enjoyed it

Interstellar 10/10

One of my favourite movies of all time. Loved every second of it. Just, wow... We'll discuss more once more people see it. Go into it knowing as little as possible

Wow, Dave Sheldon on NW absolutely destroyed it this morning... sounds like this will be a total love-it-or-hate-it flick.

I was actually quite surprised by the critics responses to this movie on RT... However I guarantee most user reviews will be 9/10 or 10/10 most of the time (except from the people who like Transformers and Adam Sandler movies). This is because there are definitely some flaws (the script can be weak and cheesy, and some characters are just plot devices) and people tend to try to sound smart by pointing out those flaws, trying to put too much importance on them. Also everyone has their own taste in movies, and you have to know what each critic is like. If you agree with that guy 99% of the time, you might not like this movie. I have no idea who that is, or what his tastes in movies are however. That's why I like threads like this.. I have an idea of the types of movies people like, and know how much weight to put in their opinions. (for instance I can guarantee StylinRed will HATE this movie because I liked it so much :p)

In my opinion, there are movies where the characters are the highlight (most PT Anderson and QT movies) and there are movies where the plot is the highlight (this movie, Gravity, most sci-fi movies actually). Just like I mentioned after watching Fury last week, the plot was weak but the characters were interesting, so I enjoyed it overall. In this movie most of the characters are weak (but the mains are good enough, and Mathew M was fantastic) and the plot, action, intensity, and visual effects were mind blowing for me.

Overall if you're a sci-fi or science fan, it's an absolute must-see. Especially if you enjoy theoretical physics and astronomy.

I just can't get it out of my head, and I'll probably go see it again on IMAX next week.

PiuYi 11-07-2014 01:11 AM

Anchorman 2 5/10

I was so choked to find out the differences between IMAX and 70mm IMAX. I just assumed that IMAX was IMAX.

I'm going to catch it in theatres this weekend, and if it's worthy of the drive I'm going to head down to Seattle to watch it in 70mm IMAX to soak it all in. From the reviews I've read, it's really a different experience when you watch it in IMAX and expecially 70mm IMAX.
