green dragons 5/10
what a shame considering the heavyweights tied to this title
i think the film would've been less cringworthy in cantonese...seems like a lot of the script was directly translated

The Theory of Everything 8.5/10

Really well done movie. The actor, Eddie Redmanye, does an accurate portrayal of Stephen Hawking, from his mannerisms to his humour. You feel the burden that his wife endures throughout the movie and realize how strong a woman she is.

Good acting by Liam Neeson. Good action scenes. Good story.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes - 7/10

I enjoyed Rise of the Planet of the Apes a lot more. I just didn't really feel like I cared for any of the main characters.

8.5/10 for The Equalizer.

Agreed regarding the "implied" killing... especially in the scene where:

Spoiler!

...personally, I think that whole scene was either A) not necessary, or B) should have showed how Washington's character found the guy and got the item back.

Otherwise, it was a lot better than I expected, sort of like a superhero movie meets the "Taken" trilogy. Though I do wonder how many movies it will take for the "retired black ops middle-aged dude just trying to live a normal life but gets pulled back into a situation where his dangerous skill set must be used to save the day" to jump the shark.

I PopcornTimed this movie, wish I paid for it instead of The Gambler which I found to be pretty terrible. 5/10.... hard to follow, no real character background, character is hard to relate to, love interest makes no sense, personally I found the movie was all over the place.

I found the high reviews for The Equalizer somewhat misleading. I watched it a few weeks ago, and based on the reviews, I was expecting some what of a better movie with a deeper plot.

I still enjoyed the movie, and it was a decent action movie with some creativity in the action scenes. But plot wise, I didn't find it any different from a typical Statham or Neeson action movie, with a pretty "cookie cutter" plot.

I would still give it a 7/10 though. Enjoyable, as long as you're not expecting something new.

American Sniper 8.5/10 <--- What do you guys think, better than Enemy at the Gates? Best sniper movie ever made?

Still Alice 8/10 <--- Super depressing movie but creates awareness for early Alzheimer's, plus Julianne Moore is still super hot.

Men, Women, and Children 9/10 <-- i found this movie very interesting, technology and the internet has changed the way we live our everyday lives.

Birdman 8/10 <-- i don't know how i feel about the plot but the acting was SUPERB.

american sniper was ok. some parts were great but i didn't like the fact it was spanned across so many years (4 tours); that didn't make it realistic for me.

American Sniper -

I'd give this a 9.5/10, Im a huge war and military movie buff so that may have driven it up a slight bit. I loved how well the movie followed the book and story that he wrote personally so well. Clint Eastwood and Bradley Cooper spent countless months making this a true telling story of Chris Kyle and it showed. I was also a fan of how it didn't just stay in one time frame and showed all his tours, as well as before and after his duty, showed the progression of his mind and how he dealt with it on a more person level.

Great movie and I highly recommend it to anyone whose into action and intense movies.

Nightcrawler 9/10 kind of torn want to rate it lower but also higher.... Jake Gyllenhaal was superb, he should have gotten a nod for the Oscars

the script was lacking i thought. decent acting but there wasn't a huge climax that made me hold onto my seat.

^^ I agree with a bunch:

Inception
Slum Dog Millionaire
LotR

and for me:
Bloodspoort (seriously -- I've watched this movie 50+ times, and never tire of it. makes it a 10/10 for me!)
Memento
Infernal Affairs

The climax of The Equalizer is literally like Home Alone Rated R version lol

Birdman was so hyped. I'd give it a 6/10 based on the acting performances by the entire cast. I wasn't feeling the whole "one-shot" technique of cinematography, it made the film hard to follow at some points. If you're a fan of art-house films, you will probably like it.

birdman.

all acting, all verygood, a bit of a black comedy and you can see clearly it had a different filming technique.

music was OK, script was decent, acting was truly really good 8.5/10.

A movie that I can watch over and over and not get tired of it or one that seriously stirs my soul. Aliens and T2 come to mind for re-watchability and The Intouchables for soul stirring.

Taken 3 6/10

Loved the first one, second one was decent but this one was lacking IMO. Watchable? Yup, remember-able and one of those movies you'd want to watch again sometime soon? Nope, not IMO.
