As a first breakout film for the main actor and director, there are a lot of good things (some really good panning shots) but the characters (especially the villains) were laughable and terrible, with some unintentional comedy. For action, it's pretty good, but I'm still spoiled by Raid 1
Kung Fu Jungle (watched last Nov)
7/10
Great premise, overall pretty okay story... for an action movie
Great fighting. I liked it
HBO's documentary film "Going Clear: Scientology and the Prison Belief" - 8/10
On par with Alex Gibney's other documentaries I've seen (Enron: Smartest Guys in the Room, Taxi to the Dark Side, Casino Jack and the United States of Money, Catching Hell, The Arnmstrong Lie, etc.)

The Gunman 7/10
It's not a full blown action, but it's not involved enough to be a drama, calling it an action thriller doesn't seem right, with that cast it could have been one of the best films in years...but i still enjoyed it quite a bit
Sean Penn did great work, but the rest of the cast, that you see in the trailer, appear in it just enough to not be considered Cameo appearances
dredd remake: way better than i was expecting. im a fan of the original. but since ive seen the movie "the raid" it felt like a 100000000% ripoff. but if i try and ignore that, good movie.
big hero 6: hated it/10. i love the animation movies, but this one made me feel nothing. sooooo predictable that i was just god damn bored the whole way through. but the baymax or wtv was a good character and done very well. but most things "set up" in the movie had zero pay off
pacific rim: really awesome. i didn't see it in theatres because, well, i assmed it would be meh. but now that ive seen it, i KNOW i would have loved to see it in the threatres.
box trolls: pretty bland movie, but totally worth watching just for the visuals. very impressive.
malificent: or however you spell it. fell asleep the whole way through. not my cup of tea, BUT good performances for sure. just not my thing. girlfriend liked it.
dracula untold: wanted to like this movie. again, performaces were good for sure. fell alseep near the end. would like to rewatch it with more coffee.

to be fair they were both released in 2012 the raid had a film festival release in 2011 and the rights were bought so it wasn't seen again until 2012
and Dredd had already been in the works for awhile even upon the raids film festival release, the only thing that was keeping Dredd from being complete was budget issues
