Interstellar 7/10 Enjoyed the beginning with the family, as well as the beautiful imagery throughout, but it felt like the movie could've been so much better. Some cringeworthy dialogue, and I just can't stand Hathaway as an actress. |
Interstellar 8.5/10 would've been awesome if he drove a Lincoln instead of the ram haha |
The Walk 7/10 Felt something was missing the whole time watching it. Realized it was the 39 bucks in my wallet to watch in 3D imax. |
The Martian Pretty good, 8/10 Modern/future-ish Castaway. |
The Martian 7.5/10 |
Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials 6/10 |
The Departed - 0.5/10 the most sad ass attempt of a remake of one of the best gangster movies ever made, it's like for once America's trying to copy something Chinese guys made and it's a fucking joke, who knew a movie with Leo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg, and Jack Nicholson could be such a piece of shit - plot is all over the place, they tried to put 3 movies into one and it didn't work at all - as a result the characters lacked depth - as a result there was no emotional attachment to any of them - scenes were just copy and pasted from the original for those not in the know, watch Infernal Affairs II (one of my favourite movies of all time, and the movie on which it is based) and you'll know what I mean ughh, I have to watch something else now to get that pathetic movie out of my head |
Young and dangerous still number 1 |
^I never watched young and dangerous when I was younger so Infernal Affairs is my young and dangerous as a result my adult life is full of my friends making references to that (those) films I'll never understand :( |
The Martian: 8/10 Exactly what I expected: Clever new setting and out of the box ideas but in a package we've all seen before. Predictable yet you still wanna watch. I'd say this is the "Armageddon" of this decade. All star cast with some quirky jokes, but still pretty safe and PG for the whole family. Worth seeing on a big screen. Side note, Mackenzie Davis, the cute blonde girl in the control room is a local actress. I took some classes with her years ago. Still just as beautiful and crazy talented back then, glad she's doing well now. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...d9a35ca005.jpg |
You didn't just compare The Martian with Armageddon did you? DansGame |

Infernal Affairs contains a good movie and a cool premise, but has the typical modern (at the time) HK movie crap to sort through. |

I mean this comparison in an endearing way; I loved Armageddon, as cheesy as it was, I accept it for what it is, and it was awesome. And don't get me wrong, The Martian is a much better film, but it serves the same purpose in the world of cinema. A big, flashy, "epic", outer-space, unite-the-world rescue story with an all-star cast. Same witty banter, same shots of people tensely looking up at a screen, and saying goodbye to their families, culminating to a one-in-a-million rescue plan that's totally unbelievable but awesome to watch. I'm sure there are more similarities if I paid closer attention. I didn't expect to be rocked to the core by this film; it was exactly what I expected and thus was satisfying. |
Quality notwithstanding (Armageddon was trash), I don't think they're remotely similar movies, other than being about space... The genres aren't even similar, one being a realistic sci-fi, the other being a "rag-tag group of misfits" disaster flick. Armageddon has more in common with movies like Twister, Independence Day, Perfect Storm, Pearl Harbor, etc than it does with The Martian. |

actually thought Infernal Affairs didn't have any of the typical HK movie crap though, one of the few HK made movies that don't, which is partly why I enjoyed it so much |
@PiuYi, its never too late to watch it... :) |

T2 is great and all but id say its as good/bad as genisys, the only reason i think people may hold T2 on a pedestal is because of nostalgia (and for the time it was a technical feat) anyway it all depends on my mood, the series is like musical chairs with me, sometimes i'll love one and dislike another but then on another date that'll switch :) |
The Final Girls 8.5/10 limited release horror/comedy movie. Extremely well done and very enjoyable I wish this was a wider release, one of the better movies I have seen in a while. Here is the trailer |
^ looks gay but i will take your word for it if the script and everything ties in well at the end. will give benefit of doubt |
