amazing movie. 8.5 / 10 (cause i don't like the ending ahahha)
Don't watch trailer as it'll ruin the movie to be honest.
Plot: Mother puts up billboards for an unresolved crime creating uproar in a small town.
That's pretty much all you need to know. The movie itself unravels itself neatly that you don't need much more than that.
Story starts off super quick and strong and jumps right into it. You think it is a 1+1 = 2 type movie but it takes a quick turn and the story unfolds.
Frances McDormand (won best actress) does an amazing job being a bitch / hard ass angry mother. Role was well played HOWEVER, Sam Rockwell (won best support) was much better. B list actor in random movies being a douche bag type role (i even googled and even 5 of the movies, I can't specifically place him in anything other than (13 moons & Iron Man 2) . He did really really well in being a douche bag but the acting was better at the last 1/3 of the movie.
All in all, great cast, script and acting. I really did wish there was a better ending but I'm just being picky.
Blade Runner 2049 9.5/10 - Absolutely stunning. I loved everything about it. The visuals, the sounds effects and score, the story, the pacing, the casting, the little details, everything. Even the production company intros were awesome. I can't remember a movie that had me that engaged. Simply amazing.

The Ex-File: The Return of the Exes. Chinese movie. Really funny. Some people claims after watching they miss their ex and some even cry. I could see why but I don't have any feelings for my ex so this is more of a comedy for me.
Oh the main female lead is from Vancouver apparently
damn it was pretty good to say the least. humor was great, and overall the music was fanastic. I'm not a huge marvel fan nor Thor, but I was still able to remember a few of the last 2 movies to make sense of the who series.
This was the best marvel experience so far.. it was great.. the humour.. i laughed and laughed... loved it... enjoyed every minute.. .and hey.. Jeff Goldblum - you just can't beat his quirky approach!
lady bird 7/10
story was ok, could relate to the stories growing up, just didn't think acting was that epic.
By the girl who did Brooklyn a few yrs back
About a girl (highschool) in her teens and then growing up being a big cunt thinking she is epic; then reality hits. I wish more teens would watch these movies ahahha so they can realize what life is about (eg// no you don't wake up after university hoping to earn $100k FFS)
school, family, jobs, friendship, prom, post secondary, BFF
Acting was ok; the supporting cast was slightly better.
Story with these young kids (6-9 yr olds) living in the run down motel right by Disneyland. Imagine trailer trash but take out the trailers and sub in long term 1 star long term motels.
The kids does a great job and man do you see how kids grow up like their mothers. Adult life is shit but in kids minds, they go to their happy place.
Animal kingdom = back yard with cows
Haunted house = run down detriot type houses
Eating good = eating people's left overs from restaurant...
Willem Dafoe does a great job, didn't think he was THAT epic good for nomination but that's just me.
coco 9/10
Great Pixar Animation again. Thank goodness they didn't try to use a white kid to start a story. They did it right keeping it real with a Mexican theme, history, and culture.
Couldn't find anything bad to say; wish I knew a few more words of Spanish. Great watch.
The Post 6/10
yes it was Steven Spielberg who directed and produced but man it was not even close to being an interesting movie. yes it had history drama tied all over it but a boring movie is a boring movie.
Cast was strong yet lacked real way to showcase their abilities. Settings were nice, seeing the printing press with legit old school presses were good, but aside from that I didn't think it was good enough.
Spotlight from last yr (or 2 yrs ago) was had better tension and flow. Even with Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks, couldn't save the movie; what was funny was how Meryl was a weak character at the beginning and BAM, she bacame a hard ass at the end of the movie.
Wouldn't recommend this movie, if you wanted something newspaper related, go watch Spotlight.
Call me by your name 6/10
If you are homophobic, this movie is not for you. As you would realize, it's a movie about dudes. There were a lot of non pg-13 scenes so be aware. Intern/TA goes to Professor's summer home and falls for the professor's kid during the summer.
The boy is the main character, decent acting, a few scene of innocent young kid with emotions.
Final scene of the boy's mixed emotion was pretty good.
Overall, it is a romance story. It was very slow, decent acting but overall the script wasn't that epic.
Murder on the Orient Express 8/10
was told it was a good movie, but reluctant due to medicore reviews
Based on 1934 novel of the same name by Agatha Christie (whom most of you have read And then there were none in High school).
Setting was good, story was actually legit, it's just the actors (a few big names) only had a short period of time to act and establish their role, so you'll see someone for 2-3 minutes screen time and that was it. Making it hard to connect.
Overall, it was a good movie, I just didn't understand why they need to have an accent in the movie; guess previous actors had one and felt obligated to comply to previous versions.
decent mystery movie.
Darkest hour 8/10
acting was great; makeup was great. Fully understood it's trying to portray the specific duration (Dunkirk) of the tough times; however somehow the movie sort of made Churchill look really dumb and have no sense of leadership and power. Not sure if it was intentional. He seemed lost, unaware of how to direct and lead a war and just sat around. That was my feeling.

star studded cast with murder on the orient express... surprised johnny depp was there! he had a short scene though! great style of acting from the director / main role and would love to see the next trilogy with my girlfriend

But it flows. No bullshit
Black Panther 8.5/10
Hardly any fat in the movie, to the point. On par with other Marvel movies such as Iron Man 1 and Winter Soldier, humour was close to Guardians but not as over the top subtle breaks in humour.
Spoiler!
First Marvel hero where the villain was more of an antagonist to the hero, could see Killmonger's actions as justified.
Such an amazing move; watched it back when it first came out (1999/2000); totally ahead of its time. To cross thru multi generations was really good; the last 1/4 of the movie really tied it all in (took a while but it did what it needed to do).
For some reason it didn't do it for me as a Triad film. Gangster films of the 90s/2000s aren't being made like they used to be. Probably because they weren't good either. lol.
