Let Me Eat Your Pancreas 8.5/10 (a tad slow paced at 2 hrs long but a typical and enjoyable Japanese high school love story).
Yes it's a very weird title but you'll know why in the first 5 minutes of the film. Legit catchy title to grab your attention.
Surely you can guess the movie whole way through but really enjoyable love story. Cute actress (she's 18 yrs old) No idea why but I'm always memorized by her eyes (nominated for best actress).
The commuter
7.5 /10 it's not bad honestly. Liam has done Taken and then airplane thriller (Non-stop) and now train, I wonder what's he's going to do next? Tour bus?

Really should've been two movies because everything felt so rushed. They could've fleshed out the story and characters a bit more and I would've been okay with paying for two movies.
Ready Player One - 7/10, only because I actually read the book.
It's a decent adaptation, with undoubtedly some Spielberg magic, but as always there are limits to what you can do with a book as source material and movie running times.
Spoiler!
Because of this, they really could have left out or softened the love story. They literally fall in love within hours of meeting. The book is able to develop this so it's believable, but in the movie it's like wtf. And it's not like it's a big part of the overall story either.
Spoiler!
I was under the impression that time was passing between the keys being found. As in days/weeks instead of minutes/hours. Maybe I'm just remembering incorrectly what I watched but, if that's the case, then the love story makes a bit more sense.
Sonick is a genius. I won't go into detail what's so great about his post. But it's damn good!

I can't fully recall from the movie, but in the book this is true --

and obviously you learn about their growth etc. between the keys, hence why the love line feels 'natural'.
In a movie, because it's just one scene after the other, with no real direction as to how much time has passed, it feels weird and awkward.
Again, I digress, it's one of the better book-to-movie adaptations, and my specific gripe is not limited to just this movie, but most book-to-movies.
Decent shooting of movie, acting was legit, however the pacing, script and just flow of the movie was just way way way too slow and just didn't have enough meat.
I swear there were probably less than 100 lines of dialogue in the movie ahahaha.
How it got seven-minute standing ovation at Cannes Film Festival is beyond me.
Joaquin Phoenix is a good actor esp the movie Her, but this one was just meh.
Den of Thieves. It's more like a b line move but it wasn't bad.
Action was legit, story overall was legit. It has a minor "twist" at the end so you'll need to watch the while thing till the end. Only thing that is gay are some of the dialogue and "filler" of unnecessary scene. Like any mystery / thriller, there will be some holes but it wasn't that bad.
All in all, action and guns blazing scenes were legit. 7.75 /10

Ready Player One 7/10
Spoiler!
Great stuff - decent pacing, shining moment, and seeing some of your childhood video games
Meh - No chemistry between leads even though they were "in love", main character seemed to forget his family died 5 mins after it happened
Movie is about an actor who pays to be in own movie; directs and writes his own script. Epic fails to the end. It's such a shit film people laugh and creates a cult. It's interesting and is based on a real story. James Franco plays the actual dude.
During the credits you can see how there's side by side frame of the movie 20 yrs ago compared to now.
legit movie, it's interesting. 7.5/10 Not for everyone who is hoping to see some amazing action.
woah? only 6? considering really good reviews everywhere else... care to explain?
Watched it last week. 6/10 for me as well.
Interesting concept, but the trailer kinda hyped it up a little. Personally thought it was pretty corny. Despite being categorized as horror, it wasn't really "scary"...
There were high-tension moments, but the movie was loaded with loud noises and cheap jump scares that pierce the quiet, of which I am not a fan. idk though, to each their own. Maybe my expectations were too high.

heard James Franco saw the original at the Rio Theatre on Broadway and thats how he got the idea for the movie.
