It went about as well as the movies did lol. 2 good days, 1 okay day, and 7 days of boredom.

Hopefully the next one is better, but I might just marathon a show instead.

what a bad movie.
action was just close to nothing
boring, no flow, it coudl have been a stand alone movie.
whawt a great way to milk the very last bit of the series... john wick did a much better job.

acting.. waht acting.. lol 5/10

sonick 10-07-2023 08:36 AM

Gran Turismo 5/10. Maybe 4/10.

Shit story and script, first half was almost like a commercial for the game.

The racing scenes were pretty well done though, a lot of money went into the location of the tracks and cars it seemed like.

Going to see Killers of the Flower Moon on IMAX tomorrow.. I know it doesn't need to be IMAX, but that's honestly the best cinema for me... Been hyped for this movie since I first saw the trailer randomly. Didn't read a single thing about it after that.

Run time 206 minutes! WutFace

MarkyMark 10-18-2023 07:51 AM

Remember when people used to edit movies whatever happened to that? At some point everyone just said 'fuck it every scene we shot is making it in the movie I don't care if John Wick is 3 hours long.'

mikemhg 10-18-2023 10:38 AM

I'm still waiting for another 6793026 movie review.

"I watched Chinese Massacre - Red Dynasty The Eel's Revenge 3 last night, 5/10".

Man has some movie tastes :lol

Lemme know how that is, it's on my list to see.

no idea why this failed so bad, used to love their twists in the genre.
Pretty much Saw I and Saw 3 was the best and the rest were just crap.
This one was the same.

It had the standard moments but the start was just sooo slow.

This Saw X falls between Saw (2004) and a prequel to Saw II (2005).

I rather re-watch Saw 3 and Saw I than watch this...

This is Martin Scorsese though; he has earned the right to make as long a movie as he wants. John Wick 3 being that long is just a travesty.

SkinnyPupp 10-19-2023 06:46 AM

OK so that movie was pretty much incredible. Stunning to look at, especially if you are into period film. You are practically transported to 1920's Oklahoma, I think especially on IMAX. There's like 5 or 6 genres mixed into this one film, and it kind of comes across as unhinged at times. But it's unhinged in a very Scorsese way, so it works. The three leads were amazingly acted, although DeNiro kind of 'falls out' of his southern accent at times.

BUT.

The subject matter of this movie is DARK. And HEAVY, and the director puts it right in your face. It's not a fun watch, but an entertaining and enlightening one. I'd say the subject matter is important to know. Keep that in mind before you plan your night watching this. It's not a "date movie" but maybe a married couple movie, if you know what I mean.

Highly recommended, but know what you're getting into

mikemhg 10-19-2023 10:33 AM

Well I mean the movie is about Americans setting up a native tribe and murdering them entirely. About as dark as you can get.

I'm hearing this might be Leo's best performance yet, this movie has Oscars written all over it.

Can't wait.

68style 10-19-2023 10:35 AM

If the native actress is portraying a woman over the age of 25 and Leo is still believably in love with her, he deserves the Oscar fr

6793026 10-21-2023 07:08 PM

77 yr old sylvester... thank goodness he wasn't in much of the movie.. then again, neither was anyone...
this is more of a jason Statham show.... Well.. him and there was Megan fox.
and of course, when we hvae 50 cent.. he had to put his own music in.
Oh, i wonder if anythign was done with a live scene.. seems like everything was green screen.

Expendables 4
let's just rate this a 0/10 so no one show ever watch this...

Brain On Fire [2017] - ?/10
Maybe an interesting watch for some people, as it's based on a true story, but after 20 minutes I realized it wasn't my kind of movie and just read the Wikipedia article about it instead of finishing it.

Leon the Professional [1994] - 4/10
The action was great, the story was mostly good and I loved the character of Leon but I would've liked it a lot more without the unnecessary creepiness of having a 12 year old trying to initiate a relationship with an adult repeatedly. Especially when it turns out the writer/director "dated" a 15 year old when he was 32 and got her pregnant a year later. I watched the extended version so maybe the regular cut doesn't have as many of those scenes or a fan edit to remove them all would improve it immensely.

68style 10-24-2023 07:31 AM

I absolutely LOVED that movie when I was younger and thought Jean Reno was fantastic in it... but I also became very aware of the questionable subject matter as I got older and I haven't re-watched it in the last 10 years, but I'm sure it hasn't aged well.

You are correct though, the extended cut has like 25 minutes more footage mostly of the relationship between Leon and Mathilda so I'm sure the creepy factor is super amped up by that.

underscore 10-24-2023 09:37 AM

If I watch it again I'll try the regular version and I'm guessing I'll like it a lot more. Jean Reno and Gary Oldman were amazing in it and without the weirdness it'd be a 9/10 for me.

Oh and something I noticed but forgot to mention, there's some link between the OST music/sound effects used in Leon and in Goldeneye. The instrumentals for the song that plays at the end of Goldeneye (which I always thought really didn't match the movie) also play near the end of Leon. And there's a sound effect they use a bunch in Goldeneye is also used a bunch in Leon. I'm not sure how to describe the sound properly but it's very distinctive and it plays a lot in the Soviet areas in Goldeneye. For lack of a better description it kinda sounds like someone hitting a pot. I'll have to see if I can find it on YouTube later.

Spy Game [2001] - 8/10
I really enjoyed this, lots of good twists and turns kept it very interesting. I think it would've worked really well as a mini series where they could flesh out some of the details that had to happen quickly to fit into a single movie.

Commando [1985] - 8/10
It's pure cheesy 80s action and it's glorious. Just 90 minutes of Arnie being huge and beating up everybody. I will add a disturbing content warning: don't watch this if you'll be traumatized seeing an old 911 damaged.

SkinnyPupp 10-24-2023 08:42 PM

Anyone end up seeing Flower Moon? I'm curious to hear your thoughts. I still think of it once in a while, so it's a pretty big movie for me.

68style 10-25-2023 07:18 AM

I want to go see it but the gf looked at the run time and said hell no... I'll have to see if I can sneak out on my own to see it without her thinking I'm having a diff kinda rendezvous lol

MarkyMark 10-25-2023 08:18 AM

Definitely not going to see it in theater I'll probably watch it when it's released over a few nights lol

HonestTea 10-25-2023 11:09 AM

I'm surprised they aren't adding an intermission during Flower moon

radeonboy 10-25-2023 11:58 AM

I'm interested but 3.5 hours + previews is a very long time - I'm not sure I can stay put for that long. I'm more inclined to just watch this at home or during a flight where I can take a break in between.

Glad to know I'm not the only one with this problem lol.

mikemhg 10-25-2023 12:19 PM

We watched Killers of the Flower Moon last night. Very good film, depressing majority of the time. I pretty much wanted to punch out a random white dude on my way out of the film :lol

It's quite wild that it's a true story as well that few have heard of, the 1910-30s isn't that long ago either. It's stories like this (Osage murders) which re-affirm the importance of truth and reconciliation IMHO (sometimes the need for it can be lost nowadays).

Rating this film is tough. I'm conflicted on giving it an 8 or a 9, so I'll settle with 8.5.

My complaint is the length, I love a long film, but at 3.5 hours, this was too long. You lose me at hour 3, there was a lot of b-roll type shots in this film that could've been stripped out. I get that Martin was going for the art-house Oscar-vibe, and since this will likely be his last film (the man is 80), I'll give him a pass.

no idea why it was 58% on rotten tomatoes, i thought it was decent. Jim can't act at all cause it's just a non emotional face.
I didn't know it was based on a true story which was pretty cool.
Jim Caviezel got into a lot of falk for his off screen comments (he was in Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ movie)

All in all, well put together scenes, typical routine story telling. Obviously a tough subject as it's around pedo cases in Columbia. Surprisingly the supporting actor Bill Camp was pretty good...

don't expect crazy john wick 3 shooting scenes or any under-age scenes LOL

mikemhg 10-25-2023 04:32 PM

^You'll have to read more around the backstory on the actual person this film is based on to why it has a 58%.

I've been meaning to get to this film, just hasn't been pressing for me.

Perhaps I wasn't too vexed with that old-age Christian white-knight narrative the film and its supporters are attempting to espouse here.
