Sonick is a genius. I won't go into detail what's so great about his post. But it's damn good!

Uh... they literally hooked up anywhere from 9 to 11 microphones to the actual race cars from that era and recorded off of them driving in tunnels. Adam Driver talks about it in detail in recent interviews.
It sounded great in the theatre, you must have been listening on some crap speaker system lol
I don't know I got a pretty good HT system with a 21 inch sub. In the theatre did it sound like the video I posted? Maybe they changed the mix for the home release.

I thought the cars sounded fantastic... loud and raucous... any of the racing scene had great thrumming engine sounds, I felt like the Maseratis sounded better than the F-Cars tho just personal preference.
I already watched Past Lives back in Sept when it first came out. posted here before Review
yes i watch a lot of crap movies and there are some who are gifted in story telling, character tension but danggg Past Lives did NOT do it for me.
Understand what it was trying to do ... just was not worth of anything whatsoever.
Situation was relatable but when it's too real (boring) it become too meh. If it's too hollywood happy ending it's fake. Love the premise, jsut when it ended, it was ... what that's it.. moment cause I was hoping a bit more. Did remember their 1 shot take final scene but that was about it.
I just watched Past Lives and cannot disagree more about the ending. The filmmaking, direction, and acting of the last scene had so much tension and intrigue to what would happen. And the reaction from Nora at the end was so intriguing.
It very much has a lost in translation vibe to the movie, so if you didn't like that you won't like this.

We watched Past Lives last night, and I'm glad we gave it a chance (6793026, stick to the Expendables 7, more up your alley, bud).
We really enjoyed the film, no it's not a dick slapping barn burner, but enjoyed the angle the film was going. I liked the conflict they drew between the idea of a more feminine Western man, opposed to the more masculine Korean. That parallel is somewhat of a current topic of Western culture today.
It's a slow starter but gets quite engrossing in the last 30-40 minutes.
Didn't know it was 2021, mr. shazam dude Zachary did this movie after shazam. Didn't think it was worthy at all and man....serisouly, 43 year old playing a 20/30...
What a surprise the tier B movie that was pretty legit!
Real story, broke record for joe montana, hall of fame 2017, underdrafted dude in NFL... What a great story to be tone. acting by the female lead Anna Paquin was on point.. man she even risked it all and got those 80s haircut like our elementary school teacher.
ending was decent and paced really well..
i enjoyed it 100X than crap movies like Fast Charlie
It was a pleasant surprise too. I was going through a nightly scroll through all my streaming apps struggling to find something then randomly came across it and thought you know what I haven't watched a good ol sports underdog movie in a long time lets give it a chance and was pleasantly surprised.

Table for 6
probably the BEST CHINESE movie of all time.
1) must go see
2) hilarious scripting
3) superb cast
4) ending, climax, NG scenes at the end... everything was fantastic.
The entire movie was shot inside a house and all characters surrounds sitting down for dinner. Extremely well written and there are some hilarious physical humor which i thought was 99% based on which wasn't.
Really loved it and I took my inlaws 70 yr old and my CBC niece 13 and she thought it was great even though she never watches honger movie.
very sweet family movie and don't let the stephen chow type trailer make u think it's all about pee and poop.
10/10. Must see movie 2022 / of all time.

Like 6793026, this was a 10/10 for for us. Really good story and character development and a showcase of Hong Kong culture and neat references.
Movie is in Cantonese with Chinese (traditional) and English subtitles. I felt that the English dub/translation was very well done and a North American audience would understand and appreciate. I personally would recommend it to others.
Went to see Table For Two 2
I quite enjoyed it. It had all sorts of Chinese fuckery that would drive Badhobz nuts and I enjoyed it as much as the first one.
Still recommended even if you aren't Chinese or CBC or whatever you are. The translations are excellent.

When Table for 6 came out I kept hearing people give it the GOAT award and that it was a must watch. I wasn't sold just by looking at the poster and I absolutely hate Dayo Wong to me one of the most annoying actors/comedians of all time. I didn't hate the movie, even enjoyed it on some level but far from any 9/10 or 10/10 for me anyway. I was able to handle Dayo in this movie so that's a first and will watch the 2nd one. I've said it before, true Canto movies are far and few between I miss them so much and will watch the shittiest movie knowing it's an actual HK film.

mandarin movie about online gambling.
Rumors were said China invested in this movie cause it wanted to kick the other 3rd party countries who's doing all the gambling issues.
a) how crazy invested people are online gambling.
b) what's going on behind these virtual gambling sites.
c) how they are cheating the system.
thought it was done really well, oscar worthy, nah, but overall, great script, fast paced, and showing how bad people can still be good.
Of course there are loop holes towards the last 20 min of the movie, glad it ended faster than it needs. No need to drag on for a 120 min movie which i appreciated.

Speaking of Dayo, did you watch A Guilty Conscience ?
I can't say it was GOAT as its not a comedy, as it's purely a court movie which i did a review before.
Don't worry, he didn't play the Kevin Hart standup daddy issues character as it was a serious lawyer movie. Pretty sure china didn't invest in this movie so it was only local in HK due to the sensitive topic.
also well worth the movie, truly talking about redemption and conscience on a true human being.

I haven't but I'll go grab it tonight. As a CBC who grew up fairly Honger I'm a sucker to watch pretty much anything Canto. Till this day I still keep up with TVB dramas even though the plots are predictable as they come and they're generally terrible but it's like a guilty pleasure. Lawyer shows are common of course but haven't seen a lawyer movie in a long time will report back haha

Wife and I watched this for valentines. Yes you don't need to watch the 1st one.
5 main characters in the movie and I have to say it's wasn't too strong on being a huge comedy compared to the last one.
Enjoyable in a way as the script was written well, and fast paced. There weren't any boring moments. Each character had their own story line, developed as well as acting require to pull of some emotional scene.
Because of that, with 5 diff story lines, while tense, condensed and well written....was too much. We walked out without a single story line being the main stream. There wasn't one story line we gravitated towards.
If you remember Closer - (Natalie portman being a pole dancer) was a well crafted 4 story line being twined together.
If you remember Intersteller, had 3 line...
Table for 6 part II had 5 story lines with another 2 sub plots...
An OK new years watch for now, there are 2 other CNY movies but they aren't coming out to Canada yet.
Dang what a great movie. 1970 class of 5 forced to stay during xmas at boarding school with 1 hard ass teacher.
Great music score, great acting by Paul Giamatti and his lazy eye, the guy who played the kid is his 1st time acting was also great.
It's set in 1970 and from the filming, sound track, outfits to even the coke bottles and jim bean.. were on spot on esp with using the 55mm lens, creating a "vintage portrait look for the entire movie.
i was hoping it would end just at the climax. Talks about life lessons, disgruntle teenage kid etc. While it's a one time watch, I still loved the acting and the way it was shot.

Anatomy of a Fall - French legal drama thriller film.
40% of the movie is english with subtitles, keep in mind it's 152 minutes so you gotta be prepared. Justine Triet is the written and director which was pretty cool to see their exact vision come together. It won a few awards (Best Picture for Van film critic which I didn't think was worthy).
Here's my take. It's NOT a murder mystery. Don't expect going in to find the villian. Don't expect going in to fight against bad guy / good guy.
The film is 80% courtroom drama. I thought if someone told me this, my expectation would have been better. FYI, the movie only has 1 protagonist battling thru the court system to provide themselves so it's take on a very specific lens on the lead and the court reveals different facts for the audience to decide.
Tension was good, last 1/2 of the movie was strong in the battle, the last 10 min could have been cut. I can't say it's Best International Movie worthy, maybe it's French / foreign film which makes it difficult.
Do take into the fact of the characters are Europeans and some cultural difference (Cross cultural nuances has to be taking into the fact as many things will be lost in translation; eg//germans a bit more blunt and direct).
This movie is similar to HK movie last year (The Sparring Partner) (which I reviewed before also)- murder legal court battle and at the end you gotta figure out what's going on with some flash backs. This was actually based on a true HK story so it was super tense to watch, low life lazy brother conspiring with a mentally challenged friend to kill the family. It's not PG 13 so it's something you should be prepared for. Ending is very similar leaving for the audience to decide.
I was so bored I watched a free movie on youtube and it turned out to be pretty good. It's based on the true life story of 2 NHRA drag racers in the 60's/70's. Most of the racing scenes are actual clips from the 60's/70's. If you like racing this is a good movie to watch.
French movie which i didn't know anything going in.
Based 1960s on a true story so it was pretty cool realizing it only until the end.
The outfits and all were correct to the era which was cool and the set was based in France so it's good to not see it being fake american version.
pacing wasn't the best and the ending knowing it was a real story was a saving grace. The main cast was weird as he didn't hold up well. I did learn a thing or two from this heist type movie.
French version of catch me if you can.
can't say it's the best movie. It of course can't be compared to Oppenheimer.
20mins in, i was really eager to dig on what the heck E=MC2 relaly meants.
They did pull a lot of historical pics and eveyrhting in the movie were quotes / statements / notes from Einstein.
John Wick Chapter 2 [2017] - 8/10
Pretty much what I expected, lots of good action sequences but the plot was a lot weaker than the first one.
The Score [2001] - 8/10
A good heist movie with some good twists. It's definitely a product of it's time/not something I'd expect would get made today with Edward Nortons character pretending to be mentally handicapped half the time lol.
