The Lyricist Wannabe https://popcornsg.s3.amazonaws.com/m...70-TheLyricjpg hk movie; about a young girl's dream on being a lyrist. It started really well but the ending was just crap. At least the theme song was good which gave me a perspective on who this person was. It was really a low budget movie and my wife enjoyed this as she's musical and understands how canto pop is super hard. |
https://images.saymedia-content.com/...ur-floors.webp didn't have high hopes for this movie; i do remember the guy cause he's the lead that placed Terminator John Conner T3 i think; never really made it big i guess (or in movies I guess). ANyhoo; movie had some great premise to it but the ending just didn't do it for me. No wow factor; no spice, no amazing twist.... guess since it was the same director and writer, maybe it was his debut. Was really hoping for a powerful ending. Dude went to visit his BFF; traded places to cook for him as a cook; the twist was that his buddy didn't want the job anymore so he took over the "dream" job. if only the cooking scenes were better; more action, more tension and thriller mystery... 6/10 |
https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/...qcGc@._V1_.jpg Finally a legit canto movie. So happy. Great script, wife and i was on the edge of the seat on trying to figure out who's the good guy, who's grey, who's not doing their job. It is a remake of the 1998 American film The Negotiator; sam L jackson / Kevin Spacey. Man, these asian actors don't age at all LOL. Great ride; decent action; nothing over the time; not loopholes; just great script, decent acting by all cast members. Thank goodness no issues with stupid romance with some useless character. |
Recently bought a 4k UHD Blu Ray Player for my home theater, have been rewatching some past movies. Also bought a bunch during Prime Day as well. Recent re-watches: Nope - 8.5/10 Tenet - 8/10 Spiderman Far From Home - 6.5/10 Heat - 9/10 Pacific Rim 8/10 Inglorious Basterds 8.5/10 Edit: Forgot to add Dune part 1: 8.5/10 Blade Runner 20149 9/10 |
Deadpool and Wolverine Absolutely loved it. 9/10. They paid great homage to 21st Century Fox and all the marvel comic book movies before Marvel was a cinematic universe. |
Yup. Watched Deadpool & Wolverine on Sunday. I loved it. Was definitely a movie made for the Fans. For those that haven't watched everything from Marvel over the last 30 years, you won't really appreciate it. But a great watch. |
For those that have watched Deadpool and Wolverine, re-watch the ending part of the music video for "Ashes" where Celine and Deadpool are talking. :D |

Depending on how much of a comic book fan you are, you'll appreciate the movie accordingly. I think they really made a movie the fans wanted. |
Hit man 8.5/10 Super fun movie, great chemistry between the two leads. Glen Powell has quickly become one of my favourite new actors to watch. |
https://people.com/thmb/nbrpC3nqaZf7...423c1c4aae.jpg Thought it was very good. Deadpool & Wolverine did its job. I thought Hugh Jackman aged well and man, he still got the body and the arms to play off the role. Dude's 55 years old and ain't 30 no more. (eating up to 8,000 calories a day + training ain't easy). I did think there were a few parts which gave him an opportunity to pull / act on this emotional side of things; compared to previous Logan etc, it was all about being raw. There were just too many jokes to list; so many cameos and a lot of things slotted in which gave so many laughing moments. I did feel the end credits did some great tributes. having said all this, i did doze off a bit during the first hump; but it all rounded off well at the end. Nothing beats laughing with a lot of people who got tons of the jokes; i do think those who are younger would not get the refences from the 90s/2000 (jokes, sound track, ryan's movies etc). Got to say 200 M budget and now grossing 1.029 B ain' t bad. bravo to you Hackman, you always wait for the right time to reprise the roles. |
https://media2.firstshowing.net/firs....jpg?width=599 Watched this with the entire family; had us guessing all the way to the end. Good way to put a pin on CGi on something very different. Same director who has done a lot of major box office - so it was cool to see him blowing up something iconic in HK. I guess the action was ok, nicolas did his own stunts and coordinated the action which i didn't care about. Coming up with a fake country, war and illegally selling arms I didn't care much about; what we all did enjoy was trying to find out the culprit. Won't spoil it; as I say, a good script will trump all action. Lastly, glad they didn't put in any stupid love story line (there was still one; but didn't do one with a 2 shot cameo china actress in order to get filming rights. Good to see Jacky Cheung action despite him aging so much. Few true fun facts a) they got a lot of support from Hk customs to provide support. b) actual rule in HK gov't (frontline)- mgmt has to retire by 55 - 60; yet every single key cast member are well over 60 LOL. (Jacky 63, 62 & 73) The only guy who's of age was Nicholas 43. |
https://hips.hearstapps.com/hmg-prod...a3e57f35c2.jpg Time Still Turns the Pages (Chinese: 年少日記) Not the best title, about a teacher finding out a kid is going thru some tough times (suicidal thoughts). very deep script - teacher isn't in such a good place at all. Not a well respected teacher, bad luck in marriage; then going thru the times of dealing with difficult student being bullied. The two story lines (1990s) versus model 2020 - from student / school relationships to family (dad beating kid); to rivalry of siblings, man it was so much packed. It gets very deep at the end with a different twist. Thought it was nicely done esp the director was also the script writer. Not for everyone as it's emo type film. My wife couldn't handle it. Did win a few awards, or nomiated for new director. |
Bullet Train [2022] - 9/10 Not to be confused with Bullet Train Down which also came out in 2022. I loved this, the action was solid, the comedy was solid, and the plot kept me guessing right to the end. The way everything ties together was really well done. Rush [2013] - 7/10 I'm assuming the story was tweaked a bit from reality but it was still a really good watch. |
New Alien movie is coming out this week, my dick is hard. |
I feel like if that's the barometer, there's a new Alien movie coming out like 3 times a day or more? |

https://i.ytimg.com/vi/gjx-iHGXk9Q/maxresdefault.jpg A Quiet Place: Day One if you're expecting action, this is not it, if you're expecting zombies this is not it. I loved hte 1st one, the second one was also great, this one took on "day 1" angle which I thought had a lot of potential. Didn't really go into too much development so I thought it was a tad weak, but all in all, the 2 (Lupita Nyong'o from black panther & Joseph Quinn from stranger things), did ok That's how they kept budget well, at only 68 M, they grossed 250+M so that's a good outcome. I didn't quite connect with the characters and it was merely a good watch at home type movie. |

Mad Max: Furiosa 5/10 Lol like this movie is trash.. story is just meandering and pointless so many weird unnecessary plot holes. Even the visuals were mostly meh outside of the chases |
Weird, so many people were telling me to go watch that... the trailer just looked lol to me |
Iron Claw. Holy shit - I thought it would just be a movie about a wrestling family. Did not expect my wife and I to be crying at the end. Really emotional and tough to watch. 9/10 |

https://blazingminds.co.uk/wp-conten...ves-Poster.jpg The Moon Thieves Man, did not think much of this movie by the famous HK boy band Error. Even though it was only 3 of the guys in the movie, you can tell who can act versus who still has lots to learn. Premise is not bad - HK & Japan's watch arena is fully of 2nd hand rolex / omega / PP with a vibrant scene (versus just 2 places here to really 'fix' your rolex etc). Movie is about stealing Picasso's 3 watches before an auction - very typical Ocean's 11 feel. Why is this call the moon watcher / moon thieves; so the unicorn is that they have found the omega moonwatch which originally landed on the moon. I can't say it is the best heist movie but dang my wife and I both enjoyed and thought it kept up to pace until the end. Very decent watch despite poor acting on a few characters, but the ones who did pull their weight were strong. |
https://www.flymetothemoon.movie/ass...ktopbanner.jpg I had zero hope for this movie; tatum + Johansson.. really? TOtally proved me wrong. Johansson was pretty good in acting, totally over the top performed over Tatum (considering he probably never had a decent serious role). I really like the different take on how marketing / branding / politics took to place and how they spun it. very very good and I thought it was truly a great sale pitch movie. Their alternative man landing on the moon perspective was good to see. The ending was gripping esp with woody in it; gave it a lighter edge towards the end. Very sad to see how it was 100million yet only grossed 40.6M, man that's so so sad. Theatre was totally empty but truly a soft, light, happy go lucky type movie despite knowing it's apollo 11 and we all know the ending. |
