It depends really on how in touch you are with the Chinese heritage, as well as the philosophy behind Chinese martial arts.
Even then, it's worth a watch just for the kick ass fighting scenes.
It's in Mandarin/Cantonese, just FYI, but you can download built in English subs.

If you were in touch with your "Chinese Heritage" you would know that the Ip Man movies are complete fucking bullshit propaganda, and he is rolling in his grave right now for all the bullshit they did to his true legacy.

It has nothing to do with who Ip Man was or what he did, the guy's life is as boring as the shit my girlfriend watches on TV. Beating up Japanese invaders and kicking British imperialist butts, fuck all that.
It's the script that's well written, and anybody who had any remote knowledge of Chinese philosophy would find it enjoyable.

WTF does it matter where I live? Facts are facts, and this movie has taken them, and not only adapted them, but completely changed history to suit communist propaganda.

Ip Man didn't flee china from the invading Japanese, he was a KMT member, who had to flee because of the communists. Had he stayed, he would have been tortured and murdered. But the movie takes the typical communist revisionist history, and says that he stayed out of china while the People valiantly fought off the japs. Instead of what really happened.

I don't mind adaptation, but this isn't adaptation, this is propaganda. They are ruining his true legacy, of someone who had no choice BUT to leave his beloved country, because the people who were conquering it after his party was weakened by the war were going around and imprisoning everyone who was not on their side. Then you have the good ol' cultural revolution, killing way-the-fuck more people than Hitler ever did...

Anyone who has a remote knowledge of Chinese philosophy would not be alive if they were in China.. But the rest would not accept the propaganda that is being shoved down their throats.

But yeah, great kung-fu action for sure! :thumbsup:
