i say...

iphone if you want ease of use, wifi, music and shitty camera.

ans n95 if you want ease of use, shitty wifi, music and good camera

e61 if you text/surf a lot but dont listen to music or take pictures.

mk1freak 11-27-2007 10:48 PM

I can't really think of many phones that use miniUSB to charge except all those HTC devices, which really aren't sliders or flips, or some of the newer Nokias (N95 is the only one that comes to mind at the moment with miniUSB). If you want guaranteed syncs with Outlook, a Windows Mobile device will do nicely, and either the older TyTN or the newer TyTN II from HTC will suit your needs. Both have fantastic connectivity options and when I had the TyTN 1 I never had any issues with reception or dropped calls, and this was before the 3G rollout on Rogers/Fido! It'll be even better now.

I do like the HTC line and the N95 (-3) but the are more in line with 'smartphones' I am looking for a 'dumbphone' :) with MP3 & basic camera. The TX takes care of everything else, including my major use of MP3 player.

Good reception is my basic concern.

+Kardboard+ 11-28-2007 10:06 AM

Motorola ROKR E6? You can hack it to have quad-band reception (it's initially disabled), has an OK MP3 player and camera, and charges from miniUSB. I had one for a while and it was a nice size, but the touchscreen can get annoying until you get the hang of it.

mk1freak 11-28-2007 02:37 PM

or even the well loved ming..once you update the radio on them the reception is great(even on fido) never had a dropped call :)
I should know i went through 6 of them! Mp3 player is great as its using real player though it uses 2.5 mm jack its easy enough to find an adapter. camera is also more than basic so it has everything. The only thing i find which is a con is the sms txting with the touchscreen keyboard sucks but when you get the hang of the handwriting feature really is pretty fast though not as fast as qwerty(and its great for chinese characters). The E6 costs a bit more and is candy bar form whereas the ming is a flip and has a protected touchscreen and costs less. quad band is enabled though you would need to mod for edge.

Between the iphone, N95 and E61i

Reception: Either nokia will do fine.

Camera: N95 hands down

Ease of use and web: iphone (althought E61i is good for web as well, but the phone overall is sloooooowww)

Music: iphone

However keep in mind the iphone is somewhat limited, and the E61i is slow, so browsing the web with other apps open will be difficult, if not impossible..
I had one before, and even browsing the web, it would sometimes crash on me, even with nothing else running in the background..

New Question
For those of you that have/have used the Tytn II, hows the menu speed?
Have you ever encountered a lack of memory?

how is overall speed? i had some people tell me it was too slow for their liking.

if thats true i think im gonna go with the tom cruise and get a bluetooth keyboard haha

855T 12-02-2007 11:27 AM

CellWorldCo has the TyTn II for $549 which is atleast $200 less than competitors. Anyone know why the cheaper price? Is this the "downgraded" ATT version?

i was looking at the review of the tom criuse and tytn 2 on mobile-review.com, the cruise outperforms it in a number of things... :S

Culture_Vulture 12-07-2007 03:24 PM

anybody have any thoughts on the k770i?
my girlfriend just recently got hers and she keeps complaining how she should have gotten the k810 instead.
how are the two in comparison?

albert116 12-07-2007 11:22 PM

i haven't tried the k770i ...but it looks booorrringggg..

The only good thing is that it comes in purple....i guess chicks dig hat.

k810 is alright...i like it better than the k800. I like the K810's keypad. Seems like K800 has better build quality overall, though

+Kardboard+ 12-08-2007 10:14 AM

So does that mean my violet Sharp 904SH is a chick magnet...even though it's not usable as a phone? :D

+Kardboard+ 12-08-2007 02:05 PM

I've never brought the 904 out before, but people of all genders always comment on my phones because they're so different from everyone else's...haha

Unbreakable Phone?

As you guys know, Christmas is coming up and i wanted to buy my dad a new cell phone since he broke his. i was just wondering if there was any good FLIP phones out there that is pretty much indestructible because he does carpentry all that heavy stuff. oh yeah.. the phone also has to have good reception as well. i'm looking at a price range for about 200bux? duno if thats a decent amount for the phones nowadays since i don't keep track.

sry if my post isn't that clear lol.. i've been awake for almost 48hrs...

Not when I have a 903 and that camera's better...hahah

As for a tough phone...I'm not entirely sure but a flip phone might not be the best bet. A candybar with a good case might be a better idea, but with all that sawdust any phone won't last long...hahah Maybe try those tough iDEN phones from Telus? They're the ones that look REALLY rugged.
