So that's you! jing mentioned you were do-boy on DK. Figured you'd be on here. At first I thought it was an SR500 but turns out its an XS650. Beautiful bike! What did you do to get it up and running?

its actually a xs400, small brother to the 650. Two of my friends have the 650 and i wish i got the bigger one because parts are so damn easy for them to find whereas alot of my delays have had to do with parts. for instance the rear master cylinder rebuild kit and pads are NLA. i paid $80 for the MC rebuild kit from the states. pretty ridiculous for a metal rod and some rubbers. When i went to see the bike, it was only firing on one cylinder so i thought it was blown, NBD i wanted to rebuild it anyways but i did a compression test and its decent (150, 155). turns out it was just the timing. cleaned out the carbs, UNI filters and rejetting, lowered it a bunch, and it has a CBR integrated tail light mounted flush into my rear "fender," new headlight, drag bars, blah blah blah
i'd like to rewire the whole damn thing because i keep getting gremlins and it has a draw somewhere so i wired a switch to cut the battery off when sitting.
this is one of my friend's xs650
so when do you guys ride?

Nice man! Did u say you had a 500? Super rare and I almost bought one as a basket case last year for $500 from seattle. I think the yammy's looks so awesome pretty close to stock and honda's automatically cafe themselves lol
I'm in the garage now and figured out why it isn't running proper after sitting for a day. One of the spark plugs fouled after maybe 300km's. I know its running hella rich for some reason. Getting HORRIBLE mileage Posted via RS Mobile |

Better check that main jet and air/fuel mixture screw!
Good luck!

haha i caught your ninja edit on my email update can't wait to see that thing man, alot of my inspiration has been from sr500's online. you know the big moon one? fave of all time. i think i'm having ignition issues too with the ancient wiring. i went 2 steps up on the main with the pod filters. going to order some new coils soon. a bunch of sr500 parts are interchangeable with xs400 eh. along with the rd400.

Oh, plugs are definitely rich, black as night and the left one that fouled was soaked. I'm a bit surprised because it should be lean through the low/mid range Posted via RS Mobile |

Nice XS400...I was trying to find one. But I ended up setting for a GS400, hehe.
I bet you don't know who this is...

The things I don't get with GSXR is that they almost never change the rim style. It's always been that relatively ugly 3 spoke garbage.
Anyone else agree? (As opposed to ZX6R 6-spoke, which looks contemporary)
