would anyone be willing to help me check some out in person some time next month :) ill be looking at a R6, CBR600rr, gsxr 600 around $4k

Naka San 06-21-2012 11:38 AM

craigslist is your friend! or Auto trader for looking into bikes

but yea for sure you can ask us if you have doubts, I'll be happy to ride out and see

gdoh 06-21-2012 11:48 AM

:alonehappy:

yea ive been browsing craigslist for the past month for deals and to see the sort of pricing. its just the other details that you more experienced riders have that i need =]

and if its a few bikes id be happy to work something out with who ever helps me. no sexual favours though lol

rk604 06-21-2012 12:00 PM

probably best if you save another grand...4000 is gonna be hard to find a decent bike with your selection. with 5000 it'll give you plenty of selection

CharlieH 06-21-2012 01:05 PM

what he said. and don't forget that even well maintained older bikes could still have worn out suspension, which may need to be revalved.

rk604 06-21-2012 02:44 PM

its gonna be hard not to go out there and buy something, especially with the weather... but its better getting something better than spending that 1000 on repairs later on, no?

Ditto.

The worst part is you have to send it out to Rod @ RMR Suspension in Abbotsford. He does good work but man, pretty far. :fuckthatshit:

If everything goes to plan it will be mine on tuesday! 642km for $8800 + tax. I feel im getting a great deal but what you guys think?

EDIT: 2010 GSX-R 750, dumb of me to not mention it lol

CharlieH 06-30-2012 06:57 PM

What yr is it? Wouldnt consider it that great of a deal unless its a 2010

Vale46Rossi 06-30-2012 07:21 PM

It's 2010, when you check the bike look at the exhaust looks like its been dropped. But don't quote me on it

I feel I got a winter price if anything, everything on craigslist has 5000-12000km and all similarly priced, a lot of them are higher than $8800. Even some of the gsx-r 600's were more expensive than $8800 with more km.

Yup 2010. And i checked every thing, my background is from automotive refinishing (paint, collision etc) so i was pretty thourough. Just two small scratches most likely from rocks from riding, barely noticeable. The pictures i took make it look a lot worse than it actually is

^that one looks WAYYYYY worse than it actually is. The flash just intensified it a lot. the scratch actually still has brown pigment in it so barely noticeable.

I will double check the exhaust, but what makes you think its been dropped? Just for my own information, not doubting your skills.

Klobbersaurus 06-30-2012 08:43 PM

thats a sweet bike, is it black or bronze? i got an 08 gsxr 750 for $7300

CharlieH 06-30-2012 08:55 PM

i think holeshot is selling a brand new 2011 gsxr750 for 9800 or something like that. keep in mind 2011 is the new gen with brembos, upgraded everything and 30 pound weight loss.

I couldnt see it when i looked around and holeshot is pretty up to date with the craigslist. + im a fairly new rider and i doubt i will even make full potential use of the 2010 750, wish i could but cant justify the 1k extra. Plus could have been taken alrdy. The gsx-r i found was a very new listing when i called them and i was the on a list in his voicemails before he got to me. But CharlieH you seem pretty experienced, 2010 gsx-r 750 $8800 + tax you would think i should shoot for it? or strongly disagree for me to get it and why?

CharlieH 06-30-2012 09:24 PM

2010 with only 600km? that's definitely not a bad deal. i had an 08 750 which is exactly the same bike and i absolutely loved it. plus 08-10 750s are pretty hard to come by right now so you should just jump on this one. personally i like it much better than the competition because the bike sits lower, better ergonomics, and the overall fit and finish is a lot better as well. you definitely won't regret it.

Official name is something midnight brown. To me its a brown/chocolate/bronze look. At some light conditions looks purpleish

Vale46Rossi 07-01-2012 12:41 AM

I just saw a mark on the exhaust that looked like it has been dropped, barely looked at the bike so I am not too sure, but check twice!

dink 07-01-2012 08:00 PM

Finally finished!

Overall look is good. Fitment was crap, had to permanently plastic weld 3 side fairings together... also cracked the upper fairing while pushing the tabs in :(
You get what you pay for....
