it seems that a lot of attempted break ins are happening inside locked underground parking areas now too. My buddy had someone try to steal his car out of his underground parking.

Ouch, some guy(s) really want a Mazda 3

That sure sucks. Doesn't the parking lot have cameras?

Sorry to hear. At least it's not happening as often as anymore. Either way, if someone wants to break in. They can just smash a window. Just that people got nothing better to do but to try things out these days. Just like the keying incidences lately.

yah, it's pretty sad to see it happening especially at my friend's place where I always park in the underground unlocked visitors area! It happened at his Burnaby townhouse underground locked parking lot and I don't think that typical residential lots have security or cameras. We think either that it was an inside job and that someone who lives there had something to do with it, or that someone snuck in through the gates or doors when they were open.

Although you could use just about anything to make these dents like your foot or fists, they look more consistent with hits from an elbow, possibly they had their backed turned and pretended they were chilling while doing so. Who knows, maybe they have a special tool for bashing car doors now (hopefully their heads).

Wow, i just cruised around my block and noticed a bunch of other Mazda's getting hit. Saw a Mazda6 and a CX7 with a nice little dent above the door handle.

Seems like someone in my block just doesn't like Mazda's . Or is too stupid to realize that only the 3's are only effected and the majority of 3 drivers already have the plate on.

the situation has died down drastically.
It was insanely hot last year when people found out about this door lock issue. Since then, many have either installed door lock plates or put in aftermarket alarms. Aftermarket alarms seem to be the biggest deterrent, but not as many people get kicked now..
it's unfortunate, there are other mazda makes that are affected as well. Thus why you see attempts on the cx7, etc. Not saying that the cx7 is directly affected, but people try anyways (as with door lock plated mazda3's.. they'll try anyways)

Motherf**king thiefs..i hope they get hit by a bus. right now. while they are eyeing their next car target. possibly a Mazda 3.

My 2008 Mazda 3 have the same dents like the 2nd pic.
Happened around January...3 months after i got it. the first damn dent in my new car!
The only consolation for me is that my car is galaxy grey so the dents are not too visible because of the darker color, unless u really look at it.
I guess the dents also serves as a notice to future thiefs that its a 2008 model/has upgraded door guard and that the previous thief's attempt wasn't successful.

p.s: dont buy a Mazda 3..

Got a small dent on the same place

Never bothered to fix it cause an intact Mazda3 door will get much unwanted attention.

if only trading in a leased car was that easy. besides, civic's front and rear end is shit imho, the coupe is slightly better.

and no, not just coz of the door issue.
add that to the chair squeaks, odd rattles here and there, gas mileage not even up to par to a civic and other misc issues.

I just bought a brand new 2008.5 a month ago, I hope this defect was fixed on my car, I think in one of the other posts it said it was. I guess I should have done more research before I bought my car.

It's just that I love my Mazda 3. Oh well!!

Drive around the street and you will see about 80% of all Mazda 3's have a dent in the driver door.

This problem (and actually noticing it on cars) seriously scared me away from Mazda 3's at the beginning when I was looking for a new car.

My dad's car got broken into the same way. He got it fixed from Mazda but they didn't fix the dent that it left.

Those thieves were at it again because the they made an even bigger dent on the drivers side AND they did it to the passenger side as well.

It is definitely an eye sore.

ugh. even though mazda may have fixed the problem (or not), perps will still keep beating on every mz3 parked on the street regardless hoping to score one that hasn't been fixed...
