Please don't think I agree with SFUDropOut...the only thing I agree with is his, question of getting an infraction. He didn't flame the guy in any way - he was insensitive - but just because you don't agree with him doesn't mean you give him an infraction. Also, I don't think the mod should have been as self-righteous.

Nothing wrong about voicing your opinion, but he could of been more courteous seeing the situation. 93blacksi was asking for help and the guy flames him about what an idiot he is. Yes he could of parked his car inside, yes he was to cheap to buy an alarm system or an immobilizer, but don't fucking rub it in his face, the guy just lost his car.

No one has agreed with SFUdropout. Some of us are just saying that he had a right to voice an opinion. Also, no one said opinions can't be wrong, but just because they're wrong doesn't mean he's not allowed to voice it.

In terms of racist opinion and the such, I don't think SFUdropout's opinion was any where close to being that offensive. Opinions do get censored but, in a democratic society it's a very high standard you have to cross before that happens. The last time I checked, the laws in Canada allow you to say whatever you want - you just aren't allowed to spread hate literature, but you can say it.

You're the prime example of why SFUdropot raised a question about infractions -why is it that you're allowed to use profane and aggressive lanague towards other and not get an infraction, while stating a opinion gets you an infraction.

No 1 said it it's right what he said. Actually, you do have the right to spit in the cops face, that's why you can do it if you want. The only problem is you'll be charge for committing a criminal act - not for spitting but for committing an assault or something like that. There's not actual law that prevents you from spiting at the cop though. Besides what criminal act did SRUdropout violate?

That's what I was wondering too. I popped online during work to briefly surf the site and saw my name mentioned.

To start with, yes, Canada proudly allows freedom of speech. However, Revscene is a private board with rules and regulations. If anyone actually bothered reading the agreement when you signed up, you'd notice that we reserve the right to limit and restrict what is said on this forum. Perfectly legal.

As for people getting infractions while others aren't, the last I checked, both parties involved received points in this case. You may notice discrepencies between different sections of RS. That's because each separate one has it's own set of rules. Some are ruled with an iron fist (Members' Ride, B&S, Tech, etc) while others have a far more relaxed system (VOT, etc). You may be able to get away with saying something in VOT but as soon as you say it here in VAC, you're punished for it.

SFU's comments were unnecessarily worded in a manner designed to inflict a certain emotion. While what he tried to say was technically fine, how it was worded wasn't.

ok if that sfu guy is a douche i rest my case defending him...but i think there were ppl who retaliated and said stuff back to him that was out of line...Just think those should get points for flaming back, that would be fair IMO takes 2 to tango
