Buying a Mini Cooper

Hey guys.. a few questions as I am in the market for a new cooper (not S)

1. which dealer/salesperson would you recommend? Yaletown or Richmond
2. how much can i negotiate?
3. other details i should be aware of?

thanks!

the_rickster 05-03-2008 08:35 PM

1. check both out and go from there.
2. you negotiate until you comfortable that you're getting the deal you want
3. ....

TRDood 05-03-2008 08:38 PM

^^^ not helping..
i went to both already..

i just want to know what the ballpark is..

JDMCivic 05-03-2008 09:20 PM

if u already went to both already then...
1. decide for yourself which dealership/salesperson is better to deal with and suit your personality
2. if you have already went to both then you should have sat down and discussed prices
3. ...

go to mini richmond and talk to kevin..
great guy.. he will take care of u for sure..
about negotiating.. can't really tell you much on that, but talk to him and see what he can offer you. he's very enthusiastic about the car, and he knows it quite throughly.

if you wanting a black car.. the current astro black will be discontinued real soon i believe. but talk to kevin about it more in details, i don't want to lead you in the wrong direction afterall.

Tom also at Richmond Mini is very good as well!

mmmmmic 05-04-2008 04:58 AM

Ive talked to Tom at Richmond Mini back then while I was in the market looking for a new car.
Basically I walked in with slipper/shorts/hoody and Tom came up to me and helped.
I told him I will not be getting a car until month later, he's still cool and introducing me the cars.
Kevin at Richmond Mini is also a A+++ sales, I knew him personally and hes always a car enthusiast.

MINI Richmond service is also a safer bet when it comes to repairs. They are responsible for a large number of MINI Canada internal technical service bulletins.

Yaletown has been known to perform warranty repairs at customers' cost. Their new service department does look nice though. ;)

go richmond mini n find kevin! he will tell u everything u need whn purchasin a mini

TRDood 05-04-2008 12:58 PM

thanks for the replies guys!

i talked to Tom yesterday, he was very helpful. i guess i went to the right person. he was cool when i told him that i don't need a car until july, whereas other people, they will just tell me to leave and come back.

is 3.9% financing reasonable? cuz i have seen 1.9 or 2.9 before.. can these rates be negotiated?

jerjer, are u the guy that drives a black Mini with the plate "Jer" haha... i always see ur car! looks hot!

thanks for the input guys!

jack86 05-07-2008 08:16 PM

You can do whatever you want, you are the customer and you are going to be paying $30k for a new car. Don't worry if you hurt his feelings, it's your money and it's a lot of money! Kevin is a mini enthusiast, he tracks his mini and has done several DIY mods to his own car so you know he's more into cars then that Tom guy probably (but I don't know him). If and when I buy a mini it's going to be through Kevin.

BlackZRoadster 05-08-2008 01:38 PM

even if u buy it from kevin, dont worry , tom still gets 50% of commision b/c he has talked to you before

mugen99 06-10-2008 03:30 AM

Kevin @ Mini Richmond +1

observer 06-10-2008 03:59 AM

Tom +1. He is quite nice and well mannered, I think he actually has a diploma in hotel management so he has excellent customer service skils.

TRDood 06-10-2008 04:51 PM

got a mini from Tom, fast and easy in the delivery process

thanks guys for all your help!

btw, did anyone disable their bi-xenon lights as their DRL?
it's so retarded how mini wired its HID to be DRL...

BlackZRoadster 06-10-2008 05:33 PM

its probably doable, but watch out for warranty issues if any electrical things go bad..they can blame it on that

yeah my Z is HID drl too, which got me a ticket. I was driving at night, and the hid's were on, thinking my lights are on. A cop pulled me over b/c he saw my taillights werent on. =(

boatcaptain 06-10-2008 07:19 PM

lol go join the sizeminiclub n find out!! lol

ricky123hk2002 06-10-2008 11:54 PM

and go back to find Kevin@richmondmini@@
Kevin is the best@@
He will get the best price for you@@
and you wont need to fear that you will pay more than u shouldn't@@

haha.. i looked at the thread about someone wondering this issue as well.
since it's my gf's car and it doesn't seem to bother her.. (she doesn't even notice the difference between HID and halogen!!!)
but it just pisses the shit out of me when i see it LOL!

the fucked up thing is that...
the TAILIGHTS ARE ON with DRL too with the Mini..
so low beam mode = DRL mode... no difference exterior wise
