Kumare Restaurant & Bakery
8130 Park Rd
Richmond, BC V6Y www.kumare.ca
A fairly new Filipino restaurant with somewhat of an upscale ambiance with average to high priced food. We ordered:
- Bicol Express (Diced pork in spicy coconut milk stew)
- Lechon Kawali (Deep fried pork belly)
- Lomi (Udon thick noodles with seafood and some veggies in soup) - The best dish we had.
- Chicken Pandan (Chicken grilled in pandan leaves)
- Grilled fish garnished with julienne mango (Forgot what the name was..)
- Buko Pandan (Green Jelly dessert with shaved coconut meat in creamy sauce)
- Halo-Halo (Shaved ice dessert with beans, flan, jellies, purple yam, ice cream, and milk)
6/10
Food was ok not great. Bicol Express looked like a totally different dish and wasn't even spicy which it's supposed to be. Serving was ok for it's price. Service was pretty slow. Not a place to actually go back to just to have their food...

Bambo Cafe @ Cambie & Cordova.
Venetian Salami sandwich on focaccia and chicken rice soup. 8/10
Tried going to Mamak Cafe but the owner stepped out. I'll try again on another day.

top 3 in my list Posted via RS Mobile | Mine came to same price. Pretty good value for the quality of food they serve. Had 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, with the free crab quiche and crocodile chocholate. $110 |

Their appies are pretty good, scotch isn't overpriced.
I could see myself wandering in there for happy hour.
Ditto with dessert, they all seem to sit around the $10-15 mark. Hella bang for buck if you had a cheapy dinner and want to end the night off impressing your date for very little $$$.

Asa in Kerrisdale- 7/10
pretty good specialty rolls, tried the mango roll and the Kerrisdale roll, medium sized portions, and they don't cheap out on the mangoes like most places do.
Everything else is just average, and don't order their assorted tempura, because you'll give you three tiny pieces of prawn, and a bunch of assorted yams/sweet potatoes/squash.
Also a little on the pricey end.

My first plate of beef tasted/looked exactly the same as the $8 t&t packs. Second plate was paper thin though, no good.
Btw, do you own the mini plated "jer"? Lol Posted via RS Mobile |
